This is my lo for the JAN HERITAGE CHALLENGE
This is a pic of my older siblings and I. I'm guessing this was the spring of 1968, because of our sizes and the fact that my little brother isn't in the picture, too. LOL

It is, also, for the January Sewing Challenge. I stitched around the "bookmarks"..I used a whipstitch, a running stitch, and a tradition stitch. I did a stitched border on 3 sides of the picture/matting in order to create the pocket for the bookmarks. I, also, sewed on the buttons.

I created the background by cutting the pp into strips, inking the edges and then reassembling them on a piece of cs. I used the flip-side of the pp to create the title border -- using sticker alphas for the title, using a white or peach pen to outline on the stickers, then the white pen to outline on the background around the stickers. The butterflies were fussy-cut from pp and a pearl added to them. The flowers in the middle of the "OO" were stickers from the sheet of alphas and the pens used to decorate them the same as the alphas.

The pennants were made by layering 2 different washi tapes onto cs..I added half-circle pp to the top of each pennant and added a button to each one. The layered washi was, also, used for the border under the title and a piece of rickrack was added on top of it.
I used the lo found here for inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/183521753535871884/
