Wow! What a wonderful and amazing card for your daughter. And it's very creative that you made it especially perfect for your beautiful, left-handed daughter!!!
Beautiful card and very clever in making it for a lefty. Yes you are correct. My Dad was also a lefty, but stayed that way. I was also a lefty, but the teachers as you said make you change, but I learned to use both hands. My sister the same way
Ohh wow Barbara! This is spectacular and so love filled. Im sure your daughter is or will be thrilled with this beauty. I dont know your daughter but shes sure blessed to have YOU for a Mom. My elder son was also a lefty. When he was just learning to hold onto rattles and such, he would use his left hand. In the beginning, Id change the toy to his right hand and the next time Id look at him it would be back in his left hand. I only did this for a very short time, I just needed to know for sure that he was a lefty. I remember the teachers asked if I wanted their help in changing that and I told them to leave him alone. Why do so many of us want to change what is natural? :o)Ro
What a lovely card and unique for your daughter. I'm not really sure but I imagine the right and left-handed thing was taboo originating most likely from the bible. Jesus sits on the right hand of the Father. When the Lord decides to put an end to this world and comes back, his sheep will be gathered up on the right and the goats on the left. Maybe that's where it all originated? Just a thought. I'm sure your little girl was totally confused, poor thing.
Well as left handed myself I can say that at times it was difficult, especially the school desks made for right handed people. UGH! What a sweet thing you did for her with this gorgeous card. Love all the blues & dies, stunning & thoughtful!:)
Beautiful card and terrific story. Think of all the creativity that must have been stifled before people realized it was ok to be different. It seems like a good metaphor or lesson for so many things in life.
A birthday card for our daughter. It opens left to right instead of the traditional right to left. It is not a mistake, it was done on purpose. Amy is left-handed. I thought she would get a kick out of a 'left-handed' card. When she was in school I had to buy her, among other things, a pair of left-handed scissors. She still has them.
My dad grew up in a time when left-handed people, for some reason, were not tolerated and teachers tried to change left-handed children into right-handed children. Thankfully times have changed. But one time when Amy was very small, perhaps three, my parents were visiting. Amy was at the table coloring and dad saw she was using her left hand and took the crayon from her and put it in her right hand.
Amy just sat here and looked at the crayon not knowing what to do. I told her she could change hands but she was still confused so I took the crayon from her right hand and put it on the table in front of her and told her to go on and color. She looked up at me and smiled, picked up the crayon – with her left hand, and continued to color.
I've never found out why it was taboo to be left-handed.
