IN the UK, part of the school national education curriculum is that all children in grades Reception - 2, should have access to 'Forest School' - outside activities which are not too structured but which allow them to have time in the fresh air, being creative. On this occasion, I went with the class to watch (and take some pictures). This is a great idea especially for inner city kids, but we are right out in the countryside and the kids are very familiar with being outside - but still have a ball in a local area reserved for the purpose!
I had to be careful to avoid taking pictures of the children other than my granddaughter!
They had heard the story of the three Billy Goats Gruff, so they were making bridges for animals, and when they had finished making it sturdy enough for the animals, the whole class stood on the bridge to see if it would withstand their weight!
