This is a great lift! I love the color blocking style (is that what its called?) and the ribbon around the photo really gives it that pizzaz. I love how certain words are highlighted in different colors to. Great job!
The lo you scraplifted is fun and bright, but you really made this idea your own with less white space and thicker word borders. It definitely looks like a lotta work, and you are so right about those scraps. I also think those pink accent dots are a nice touch. One tiny addition and one tiny change I'd probably try: 1) maybe doodle stitching on the long, solid yellow and blue strips in blue or dots and dashes, and 2) switch out some of the journaled yellow hearts that are at the top of the page with some of the blank ones, so that the writing isn't all clustered at the top but spread out around the page.
Angela, so many little touches. A very similar lift yet you still managed to make it your own. I love the way you alternated those paper (ribbon) strips around the mat of your photo. It truly gives your LO depth and my eye dances around the mat, causing a prolonged look at your sweet baby boy. Talk about some blue eyes!! I also love that you went with the softer color scheme. This makes the picture pop out even more and one more thing that I love... NO FLOWERS! I like little boy pages without flowers (just me). The only place that I see any room for improvement at all would be to have made your handwriting (in the red ink) a little larger (taller) to take up some of that additional white space. But, I am not great with hand-journaling myself and just the fact that you said what you wanted to say in such a linear way and managed to get it to start and stop on cue is impressive. Whew! In other words... I like it very much!
I was very inspired to try to scraplift this l/o http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/91488/view/423729/-1/20/1.html This was for Scrap Happenzz Challenge #10 to scraplift a l/o as close as possible. So, I have learned that it was a *very* ambitious l/o! This said, here is my version. I used a diff colour scheme, matted my photo and used paper strips instead of ribbons. The journaling ties in the words around the border and says: "There is a time for everything and 2005 was your time! You were my sweetie right away! You grew and soon peek-a-boo was your favourite game to play! Mommy loves watching you as you start to babble all new words from "uh oh" to "mama" to NO!" I love it when you hug me (and I hug you back). Oh, my bright eyes, you are my Baby Boy." There are additional tidbits I want to remember about my son journaled around the inner frame. The yellow & red highlighting on some words was done with a yellow artist's pencil. This challenge & this l/o taught me about the value of *scraps*, which is the backbone to this art form--hang onto scrap bits because they can always be used in a l/o!
