Journaling says:
TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL

You were 2 ˝ years old when this photo was taken. Feb. 1981, I entered you into the strawberry festival baby parade. Your Grandma and I worked hard on making your dress for it. Some people told us that everyone was going to be dressed in red and white and have strawberry colors on. And 90% of them were dressed that way. I told your Grandma that I wanted you to stand out and I thought with your beautiful blonde hair that purple would look fantastic on you. So we went in search of a southern bell pattern,. We got a solid purple satin with lavender sheer material with purple flowers on it. . We also made you a slip with wire in it as a hoop. So the dress would stand out. What you see is the end result. The day came and that morning we took you to my cousins beauty shop and had your hair done. When we got to the stadium, we got you dressed there by the car. As you seen all the girls going to line up to walk across the stage area. You looked at me and I thought you were going to cry. But you just said: “Mommy I am not gonna win, there are to many real pretty girls here” I told you that it didn’t matter how pretty they were that I knew you were the prettiest of all of them. When you walked through for the judges to look at you, you curtsied and when you did your hoop flew up in the back showing your pretty lacy panties. Your Grandma and I just laughed about it.
They gave away a lot of awards that day but the last one was the best of them all. When they called your name out I was so excited. I took you up to the stage and you walked out on the stage to get your trophy and you bowed this time to the whole audience. And your dress came up over your head. That day I thought I could not be more proud of my little girl, for being crowned the MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL in Plant City. But little did I know what kind of a beautiful daughter you would turn out to be in the years to come. You were then and you are still to this day, MY MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL.
Love you Mom
