This page is a photo of my grandmother and of the actual (torn and worn) certificate that she received in 1944, commending her for her contributions to the WWII effort.
The text reads:
Not only did John Sweers serve his country during WW II…
Thelma was a “Woman War Worker” and produced war materials for the King-Seeley Corporation for over 100 uninterrupted days. In August, 1944, Thelma was awarded a Certificate of Distinguished Service.
Thelma describes her task: “I drilled holes into a round piece of metal that was a part for airplanes. I had to be very precise to make sure
that all of the holes were exactly the same depth and each were in the exact correct location.”
