what a special tribute this is! I'm sure you'll always treasure that last visit with your mother, and this lovely page will be a wonderful reminder of that!
I LOVE YOU DEAR FRIEND! I know this was an emotional LO for you to do, but I think it's one you will always cherish! I think it is very beautiful and going right into my Favorites folder. ~HUGS!~
This LO was done for a challenge from my very special friend, Lauri D. Lauri has her own gallery on Scrapbook.com. If you haven't seen her work yet, its a must! Her layouts are some of the best I've seen on this website. This LO is a tribute to my mother, who lost her life to lung cancer on 12/24/2005. If you are unfamiliar with the story about Pennies from Heaven, the journaling located at the bottom right of my LO explains it. My penny (one of three) came to me the morning of Mother's wake/visitation and is found in the vellum envelope on the left bottom side. The larger photo of Mother was taken during her last visit to my home in August '05. I was very grateful to have had her in good enough health to visit for a week. We took two small road trips during her stay. This photo does not show her beautiful smile as she was struggling with the news that she only had 6 months left to live, which she found out only a week before. The smaller one is of her and me in the spring of 1969. These are flowering trees Mom and Dad had surrounding their home. I used red and purple in this LO as they were her favorite colors. They seem to work well in this LO. The floral/red scalloped paper and red flowers/butterfly I received from Lauri as a bday gift this year. The large purple flowers, vellum envelope, black bracket and chain I rec'd as an exchange from Lauri. The title is from Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridge. The lace pieces I rec'd from my MIL. The background purple paper was from Archivers' store. The story is found on the net. The bling, bird embellies and butterfly card are items I had. On the large purple flowers I used perfect pearls mixed with a crafting varnish to give each flower sparkle and shine. I also used a bit of it on the red butterfly. Thank you for looking!
