Questions & Answers

  • I just received my little Sidekick starter kit and it's so cute! I am new to die cutting and wondered whether it's normal to hear a cracking sound as you feed the plates and dies through the machine? It was startling the first time I used it. I also noticed that the bottom plate is marked with the shape of the die after feeding it through. I guess this is why replacement plates are available for purchase! Just hope it doesn't crack completely.   By: OntarioSue (19-Mar-20) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!

    • Yes, the cracking sound and the marking of the plates are both completely normal. The plates are considered a "consumable" item and will need to be replaced eventually. Hope this helps! • My sidekick is not cutting uniformly. It won’t cut the middle section and to cut something I continuously have to run in back and forth. Sometimes it won’t do the outer edges, but for the most part it won’t do the middle. Do I need new cutting pads?   By: martha_williams25 (21-May-21) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • In the Sidekick machine with the thin dies, you can cut a single sheet of cardstock, paper, metallic foil or vellum but felt will likely be too thick. By: Scrapbook.com (11-Feb-20) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • According to Sizzix's website, the Sizzlit-type dies will work, but require the purchase of a different, thinner set of cutting pads. By: aquabunny (14-Nov-17) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • I love it so far. It can take dies up to 2 & 1/2". So i do not have to pull out the big shot for the small dies. By: terryc1992 (22-Jun-17) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
