Love this mini version of the Cinch!

Making notebooks, planners and scrapbooks are a breeze with the Cinch. I love having this machine in a mini version. It punches perfectly to create your own custom items. Perfect for someone who doesn't have much room in their craft room/area but have always wanted their own book binding machine!

GREAT FOR ALL LEVELS OF CRAFTING

I was very excited to see this smaller version of the Cinch machine - its perfect for "on the go" projects or travel ... however, unlike the larger machines where you can choose how many holes and in what kind of configuration you punch, this one has one preset setting - 6 holes ONLY. Thus only 4 stars, I would like the choice of doing just 4 holes if I want, and sometimes it would be nice to have just 1 hole - I miss that option in this machine. But that's just a small quirk of mine.
This machine punches SQUARE HOLES, which work great for the C-Coil type of binding ... it will also work with Spiral Coils as well, even though most of us are used to round ones.
Great for small projects such as mini-albums, desk calendars, traveler's notebooks, flip books, etc.

    A Cinch To Use

Pardon the pun, but this really is a cinch to use! Simple instructions, simple mechanism and makes really lovely coil bound books. It's easy to work out how to punch a row of holes if you want to bind a wider book and has a smaller lighter footprint than the bigger version. I really think it punches above its weight. Very happy with this purchase!

Used in this project: Halloween Memories Keepsake

  • Just what I needed

I've wanted something like this for years. Specifically for a small set of drawings done by my granddaughter 6 years ago. And I was not disappointed with this purchase. Directions were clear and concise, and assembly was easy. Now have so many ideas rolling thru my head for using this great tool.

  • What does the big cinch do that the mini doesn't? I've wanted one of these for a very long time. Will I be sorry getting the mini instead of the big one?   By: TrudyT (09-May-21) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • The larger versions of the Cinch have a wider punch base (12 holes) that allow you to pick which holes get punched and which do not. This allows for more creative bindings—and neater binding for books that don't perfectly match the given size settings—because you can disengage a punch if it will put a hole where you don't want it.

Also, the full-sized versions of the Cinch have a wire-closing mechanism that is adjustable for different sizes of binding wires (3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", 1", 1/8", 1/4"); it sets the width of the gap where the wire sits *before* you apply pressure. The binding wire will fit a bit more snug in the press if the space is matched to the wire first, which may give better control over closing the binding properly.

Binding wire size determines how thick your book can be (the larger the wire, the more pages/thicker the book). The Mini Cinch "works best with 5/8" — which means it might not be able close the binding on a 1" or larger wire very efficiently, if at all; it depends what you can fit under the press plate.

Interestingly, the closing mechanism on the Mini Cinch appears to be slightly curved so that it cups the binding wire; this feature is flat on the larger Cinch (at least it is on my Heidi Swapp version.) • The Cinch machine usually will punch through laminated pages so it may work for plastic as long as it is not too thick. By: Scrapbook.com (05-May-21) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • Hello! The Mini-Cinch works best with 5/8" binding wire. For a 1" wire we would recommend using the bigger Cinch tool. By: Scrapbook.com (19-Jan-22) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
