I have tried to call, left a message but no one has returned my call. My laser square is off by 3/8in. on one side and I tried to fix it like the paper work says, but that didn't work. I love the idea of this tool And would so love to get it fixed.

I bought this when it first came out and was very disappointed after I had used it a few times. Unfortunately, I had it too long to return.
I ordered another and the improvement is great.

I Received this product as gift and also noticed the line was not straight only after I tried to use it. So today rather than work on my project I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to find a solution. I did send an email asking for assistance as I have not found a fix online. What a true disappointment.
Mine is off 1/4 of a inch and the laser isn't even strong enough to show completely across a 12x12 piece of paper. The notched arrow for lining up pops off regularly and each time I pick it up to move the battery compartment cover falls off. Also, the instant you put anything with dimension on the page the laser isn't high up enough to reach over it.
I would not recommend this product.
When I first put in the battery, it didn't make a good connection. The laser wouldn't turn on. Then it turned on, but wouldn't stay on. You really have to make sure the battery is in tightly.
The Laser bean starts out thicker and brighter than where it ends up at the opposite side.
Thus when you are aligning your paper or letters, it/they aren't straight.
I didn't measure, but I agree with the first review, It is probably off by 3/8 of an inch.
We R Memory Keepers usually has such great products. This isn't one of them. It is being returned.
This product is a wonderful tool for any crafter, precision line up of letter, embellishments, photos on pages or for making cards.
I can't believe the quality of this thing. The entire point is to have the lasers line up correctly so you can use it for several things. When the laser is completely crooked and the laser is the entire point of it, how are you supposed to use it? It's ridiculous.
The mat is connected as tightly as I can fit it, yet I cannot get it to line up with the inch marks on the bars on the side where the beams come from. And neither do the beams project in a straight line. The further you move away from the source of the beams, the more the beams slant away from the lines. In all fairness, I haven't contacted Scrapebook.com yet to discuss this. As simple as the set up appears, there may be something that I am missing or this particular item is defective. And a minor issue is that I was not aware before ordering that it does not come with the two 9 volt batteries that are required.

I bought this so I could take along on scrapbook retreats. However, once I put it together, I am unable to take it apart. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do.

Do you have to use it with the mat or can you use on any surface? For example, if I want to line something up to place on a piece of glass, will it still work?

Technically you can use it without the mat, but then your paper can slide underneath the "arms" allowing them to become crooked.
