This 7" x 9.75" Crafter's Essential Scoring Board is from Altenew. This board is perfect for card making and is ready for on-the-go crafting with its small size. This black scoring board comes with a specially designed scoring tool that is part bone folder and part stylus which allows you to score a precise line and then fold and smooth it for a sharp result. There are printed measurement guides on each side of the board at 1/8" increments, the work surface measures 6.37" x 8.37". There is also a star at the measurements 4 1/4" and 5 1/2" at the top of the board for creating standard or A2-sized cards. There is a drawer compartment under the board for placing the scoring tool and any other small items. It closes with a snug fit, so no worries about losing anything. This board works great. However, it’s hard for “ old eyes “ to see where to run your stylus. I had to put white paint in the tracks I use most often as a better guide. I’m also using the tool from my board I broke instead of the metal tool, which is prone to tearing thinner cardstock on the ends.
I love the size of this scoreboard. it's big enough to get the job done for most projects, yet small enough to travel. The eighth inch measurement is great. The white on black measurements are super easy to read.
The stylus is difficult to retrieve from the tray at first but gets easier the more you use it.
Love the shape and feel of the stylus but if you attempt to use it to crease your score lines, black marks are transferred to your paper.
I have a 12 inch square scoring board and an A2 size scoring board. Making A7 cards was a pain, because one was cumbersome and the other too small. This is the one for card makers making North America A2 and A7 cards One tool does it all.
I really like the scoring board for its size and ease of use. I probably won't use the stylus for scoring as I made several holes in my paper by using too much pressure and had to switched to a bone folder. I also like the size as it fits on my work surface better than my large 12 x 12 scoreboard since I am using smaller pieces of paper when making cards. I bought this after watching Jennifer McGuire videos, I really appreciate her reviews.
I have older eyes and I have bought many scoreboards and this one is the best with the dark board and white numbers. Makes it so easy to see. Thank you Altenew.
Longer then my Score Buddy so it’s perfect for mini and longer slimline cards.
I have my standard scoring board in a small size which i love but this scoreboard was suggested to me for the rectangle size cards. However, the design for the stylus drawer is not well thought, it is not an easy thing to figure out how to pull it out. But overall is ok.
