Make customized treat boxes and surprises for all your loved ones with the Mini Take-Out Box die from the Love N Hearts Collection by Catherine Pooler Designs. The single piece stainless steel die cuts and scores your paper in all the right places to fold into a tiny little take-out box. You can embellish with a tag or even tie it up with a piece of twine. The finished Mini Take-Out Box measures 1.75" x 1.125" x 1.875” tall and 1.125” deep. Included in the package is one thin metal die that measures approximately 5" x 5" and can be used with most standard-sized die cutting machines (sold separately).
Easy to use die, works well on different weight papers. (Note that the heavier the paper, or if the paper is layered, the paper can crack slightly along the folds.) Fits well on a 6" x 6" sheet; use double-sided paper for patterns on both the inside and outside of the box.
Use a 1/16" hole punch to punch through the short sides and all inner folds/layers in order to use mini brads to hold the box together when the top flaps are open. Use a pointed tool to poke a hole in narrow ribbon and push a mini brad through the ribbon before putting the brad through the box to add a ribbon handle. (The ends of the brads will show inside the box.)
NOTE: If you fold the corner gussets to the *inside* of the box, the box will hold its shape without adhesive or brads when the top flaps are closed. If you fold the corner gussets to the *outside* of the box—like on an actual take out container—you will need to use adhesive, brads, or wire to hold the box together; this takes a bit more effort but the look is fabulously authentic. In a real takeout box, the ends of the wire handle are used to keep the box together; use a 1/16" hole punch on *just the corner gusset folds* for that method. You can also punch a hole through all layers and insert a brad; the brad ends will then show inside the box but it will be very sturdy.
Top flaps close securely—you may need to carefully poke the "wings" on the tab with a narrow, blunt tool to tuck them in completely. Care does need to be taken when opening the box if you want it to close well again; the tab's tabs can be easily bent/ripped.
