    • My Favorite Gizmo

I can't work without this. In fact I have 2 so that I can do both pages of a double LO at one time. I have used these for about a year and a half and have had no problems with the strength and quality of the boxes. However, when working on a project I usually set the magnetic box into the up-turned lid--more to save space on my table than anything, but maybe that provides extra stability.

I did buy extra magnets though--any brand of super magnets will do. You have to be careful when putting the magnets back together as the magnetic attraction is strong enough that they will snap together if you don't hold them securely, and then the chromed coating will chip off. The resulting sharp edge can cut your paper if you try to slide a chipped one. (Voice of experience on that one!)

I needed extra magnets because I carelessly chipped a few but also because I use the magnets for more than holding pieces in place when planning a design. When I am ready to apply adhesive to the individual photos and embellishments, I use magnets to surround one or more pieces, setting each magnet up against the edges of the pieces so that nothing can shift. Then I use my CM multi-tool to pop the photos (or other pieces) out without moving the magnets, apply the adhesive, and set everything carefully back into the magnets. Every piece goes on exactly where I want it using this method with no boo-boo's. I now rarely need Un-Du for anything.

UPDATE: I wrote this review quite sometime ago and am still enthusiastic about the product after using it for 2 plus years now. After recently reading the negative reviews below, I thought it might be helpful for others who are considering purchasing this product to have these complaints addressed.

First, I noticed that a couple of other reviewers are unhappy about the product being "just a cardboard box," and thought it might be helpful to point out that it is in fact more than just a cardboard box. Those extra strong magnets have to stick to something, and even someone like me who is not familiar with physics knows that magnets do not stick to plain old cardboard.

Secondly, for those who are concerned about wear and tear on their boxes, I suggest that you turn the lid upside down and set the box into it for additional strength and protection. I have done this since Day One and my boxes have held up very well.

Third, regarding the complaint that the strength of the magnetic force will cause chips if they snap together, this is in fact true as indicated, although indirectly, in my original review. You do have to pay attention to how closely you can set 2 magnets together before they snap together, regardless of whether they are inside or outside the box. These are not ordinary magnets, but rather are what are known in the industrial world as super magnets due to the extra magnetic force that they have. This extra force is helpful when tacking down thick or heavy items, but it can be dangerous to the magnets themselves if they forcefully snap together. As mentioned in the original review, I purchased additional magnets (packages of 10 by Basic Grey) because I got careless and chipped several and because I needed more for the process of surrounding pieces for adherence in exactly the position I wanted without any guess work when returning an item to the layout after applying the adhesive.

Fourth, in regard to the fact that there is no fastening system to hold the box closed when in transit, I have found that very large rubber bands work wonders.

All things considered, I still rate this product 5 stars and recommend it highly. I love it, love it, love it!

      Purchase with a Purpose

I waited forever for this to come out, ever since I saw a full page add for it in Scrapbook etc. magazine. Without even having my hands on it, I believed it was a wonderful product, and it proved itself the first day I had it. It is a nice hefty, but thin, box and the magnets really are strong. It fits nicely into my rolly bag as well. I mainly purchased it for its secondary purpose - the ability to "play" with your layout before committing. I really love being able to set things all in place and stand back to take a look at it, or leave it over night (or after a Scrap Mania event) and look at it the next morning with fresh eyes. One con though, wash off the magnets before you use the product. They seem to be covered with a fine dust that can leave marks on your project. I learned this my first time using it.

    • This is what I'm buying everyone!

I bought this product at a scrapbooking expo in the spring. I use it almost every day! Sometimes I like to play around with a layout idea, but then I can't get back to it for a while and I end up starting over later. Now I don't have to! It's great at crops when I want to switch to another project or get tired. I can't wait to give these to my crop buddies as holiday gifts!
Also, it is so lightweight and fits into my Crop n Style b/c it's narrow. I've even gotten a 2-pg spread into it b/c the magnets are so strong. A ++++!!!

    • Great Product

This thing is cool. I have a portfolio that's supposed to hold pages in place that I waited months for, but it's big and heavy and it gets in my way when I try to work. Then I got this Cropperware at my LSS and it really does the trick! I just leave it in my bag until I need it and it works great. Those magnets are REALLY REALLY strong! I put a lot of “stuff” on my pages and it holds everything, even when it’s upside down. I'm hoping to get another one just to keep at home. I would totally rec. this to anyone!

      AN AMAZING FIND

I wasn't sure I was going to like this, but... I have used it many times and am thrilled that I can now 'play' with my layouts until I get them just right. The magnets are super strong and hold nearly every embellishment in place perfectly. It's a great product and I will be purchasing a second one. The only thing that could make it better is to magnetize the lid so that you can use both sides when playing with a two page layout! Oh, and maybe some sort of strap to keep the lid in place when it's closed.

      I am Cropping More!

I am cropping more, thanks to this product. I do not have a scrap room, and often have to stop mid-page to clear our table or to put things away from my nosy cat. With this product, I can crop right up to the last minute and just pop on the cover on as I clean up. I own two of these so that I can work on 2-page layouts. They both fit easily into my crop bag, and I no longer have to leave the crop earlier because it might be too late to start a project. I recently started 2 layouts just 15 minutes before a crop ended. What an advantage!

I am giving this only 4 stars because of the following: The directions state to be gentle with the magnets, but it's impossible. They are very strong and constantly clank together when loose or placed close together outside of the box. The container itself could be sturdier, however, I would assume that would raise the price.

    • Best Christmas gift I bought

I bought this as a gift for a scrapper who takes forever to finish a page because she is so meticulous. She also doesn't get much time to scrap, so I thought if anyone would benefit from being able to keep everything in place until next time, SHE would. Well, we all love her box. It was the hit of the last crop weekend! The magnets are so strong they definitely hold on through multiple layers and it is great to be able to try things out this way.

My only personal reservations about this product (the reasons I give it 4 stars instead of 5) are: 1) I wish the lid had a secure closure so it would stay on well (even if it stuck to the magnets!), and 2) I wish you could do a layout (i.e., 2 pages) instead of just 1 page at a time. I guess I'll have to get 2 boxes for that... but I might think about the BG Precision Mat kit first.

PiP a great friend for Crops!

I have had my PiP for a month now, and I love it! It´s easy to handle and store and the best part, your crop pages won´t mess when going home! All things in the right places when you put you page in progress in the box!

Ok, I don´t like the look of this blue cover (therefore only 4 stars), but I just started altering mine. I´ll have my altered PiP in my gallery soon! :)

      Not too happy

I was thrilled when I seen this product and the concept is great. After many months of thinking if whether or not I could or would use it I finally decided it was what I needed so that I don't have to put away an unfinished LO in order to have my scrap area cleaned up to work on something else. I opened the package today and was extremely disappointed to find out it's made out of thin cardboard. $25 for a carboard box, I'm NOT happy. Cardboard doesn't hold up well or for long when used all the time and this product was made for just that...an all the time used product, geez!

    • Disappointed

I couldn't wait til this came out cuz I thought it was the answer to my unfinished page dilemma. The magnets are strong and the idea is great. I was very disappointed to find that the box is cardboard. I already repaired the corners twice with tape. So now it looks crappy. $25 for a cardboard box and some magnets?? Save your money. KathyR
