Get precise, accurate cuts every time. The X-acto Laser Paper Trimmer takes the guesswork out of cutting. Cut a 12" x 12" piece of paper exactly where you want with the adjustable paper guide for perfect alignment every time. Know where you're cutting before you make a move, thanks to the "line-of-cut" laser beam. This guillotine-style cutter is capable of cutting up to a dozen pieces of paper at once. It is also very durable with a self-healing surface and a sturdy frame. The heavy-duty footpads will keep your cutter from shifting during use. The softgrip handle is designed for comfort and features a button-release lock for easy storage.
I love this paper trimmer!!! I have been through 3 previous guillotine trimmers and have had problems with the grid being crooked and the blade not being sharp, not with this trimmer!!! The cutting mat is straight and the laser line reassures you that it is! The gridlines are nice and easy to see and there are markings for popular sizes of photos, such as 5 X 7, 3 X 5, etc. The handle is so easy to grip, it fits comfortably in your hand! I love the finger guard, press down on it in the middle and it holds the entire sheet in place while you are cutting!
Lining up to the top of the grid is different because it does have a sloped edge, but I just line it up to the grid lines on the base and it is just as easy! The blade is sharp when cutting, it doesn't leave any feathery or jagged edges!
I love this trimmer!

Where has this paper trimmer been all of my life??? I love this baby! I love how easy it is to get a 12" x 12" piece of paper cut exactly where I want it (unlike the trimmers that don't have a flat 12" surface so paper can shift). The best part...the laser beam that shines and shows me just where the blade will be cutting. So amazing!!! The cutter base is lighweight and sturdy. The only drawback I've found is in the top edge where you align the paper (where the ruler is). It's slightly rolled so you should double check your paper to make sure it doesn't slide up the edge before cutting. I haven't cut multiple sheets of paper yet, but when I do, I'll for sure check that top edge.

So far I have found the paper Trimmer far better than my other one. This is more accurate, using the laser light as a guide. It also handles cutting paper without the blade bending or twisting. I definitely like this. I forgot to add a serious con to this item which needs to be addressed. When unpacking be very careful as the handle lock is not attached. As you take the unit out of the box and packaging, the blade will pop up and, if not careful, you could get cut. Xacto needs to make sure the blade is secured and safe.
I purchased this paper trimmer two years ago and it's still sharp as a razor. I've crafted several albums with it and you can easily read the grids, line up your papers square and the added feature of the laser light lets you make sure your LO is exactly where you want it for a great cuts time after time.
2020 Update: I've now owned this cutter for 11 years! It's well worth the money. Its self sharpening and next to my big shot, it's the main workhorse in my craftroom. I LOVE this trimmer!

I received this trimmer as an unexpected gift and absolutely love it. The best thing about it is the laser telling you where it will cut and if it's straight or not. I have cut several sheets of cardstock with success. The trimmer is sturdy, but lightweight and cuts very easily. A wonderful trimmer!

I've had this trimmer for more than two years now, and it's AWESOME!! The best things about it are:
1) straight cuts everytime, with no shredding.
2) easy to get accurate measurements!!
I even take it to crops with me. It's kind of bulky to carry to and from crops, but I have found this to be a tiny inconvenience in comparison to dealing with trimmers that don't do what you want them to. I don't recommend ANY trimmer but this one!
I love this paper cutter/trimmer. It has a laser light on it which is perfect for pictures and pattern paper. I cut cardstock, metal, material, paper, ribbon so much with it. I have had it for more then 8 years and the blade is still sharp. I even got my stepmom one for her birthday because she fell in love with mine. You will LOVE IT!
I'm so happy to have finally found a perfect trimmer that's absolutely reliable for measurements, clean cuts, sturdiness, safety and quality. The laser light removes the need for guessing and hoping. I can now forget about buying replacement blades, and I love that the blade is self sharpening. Very nice surface that's easy to see. This apparatus even looks really nice on my desk. I highly recommend this trimmer - you won't be sorry.
I only wish I'd know about this a long time ago.
I had been searching for a new paper cutter for months as I have been through several in just the past year. I saw this one and considered it but was hesitant as there were only a couple of reviews here and I had never tried one myself, and I was concerned that I may not like it, especially given the price. After Christmas I used some gift money I rec'd to purchase it and am head over heels. I love being able to see where I am cutting. And although it looks really substantial, it is lightweight but has a sturdy base. If you are even considering this, GO FOR IT! You won't be sorry.
My trimming is always flawed, but this is the best cutter I've found. The laser light helps keep me on track, the blade is very sharp, and the layout rulers are very clearly marked. I've had it for years, and have only had to replace the battery in the laser twice. I often take the trimmer to crops, and the one (very small) drawback is that its shape makes it hard to pack into a bag or box for transport. It is very lightweight and easy to grip on the side if you're carrying it by itself, though. It takes up a lot of room on your desktop, but I'd much prefer that to a trimmer with a smaller footprint that results in botched cuts.
