      Heidi Swapp Altered Clock

I highly recommend making this Heidi Swapp altered clock! I absolutely love it and had a blast making it. It is my favorite altered home decor item so far. I had no trouble getting the clock face off or on or removing the hands and putting them back on. I removed the white overlay inside the clock with the numbers on it ( a little tricky as it is glued in very well) and used that as my template to cut the patterned paper for the background, cut just inside your pencil line and it will fit perfect. I discarded the white overlay as my patterned paper became the background for the clock and I decided not to have any numbers on my clock. I purchased the black clock before a pink clock was available so I painted it with Krylon interior/exterior Pink spray paint. One could use any color spray paint to alter the color of the clock to match their home decor. I found ideas for altering this clock in the Creative Escape 2006 book, but there are ideas in the gallery also and ideas on line. I used Herma dotto repositional adhesive to adhere the patterned paper to the clock and glue dots to adhere all the embellishments such as the ghost letters, hearts etc. to the patterned paper. You can see my altered clock in my gallery.

Hard to take apart, and didn't run anyway.........

I am very disappointed with this product. I had been anxious to get this clock, and had my altered clock face made and waiting. Right off the bat I had trouble with getting the cover off the clock. The first step in the directions is to use the cover as a template for your paper - not how to get the cover off. I went to the bottom of the instructions and read how to put it back ON.........in order to decide how to get it off.

After half an hour of trying and finally getting the cover off, I moved on and found no directions as to how to take the hands off. Well again I read the bottom as to how to put them back on........and just popped them off as it seems that was the thing to do, one at a time.

Since I had my altered clock face made and waiting, I adhered it to the clock, added the overlay, and put the hands back on. No problem putting the hands back, nothing bent or out of whack. I put the clock face back on carefully, then turned the clock over and inserted a brand new battery. This is when I found the clock doesn't work. I put 3 different brand new out of the package batteries in, no go. I am SOOO not happy.......
