I just got this in the mail this week. I can't wait to start decorating it. As soon as it is finished I will put the finished product in my gallery. I opened it up and played with all the little drawers and the possibilities seem endless as to what can be done with this fun little calendar!
What I didn't consider is that it can be used for more then just a Christmas countdown. Do you or your little one's love Halloween? You can make a countdown to Halloween Calendar! With a bit of candy or another treat in each drawer every day until the big event.
You can make a countdown to anything you can think of. Countdown until someone's special day.. a wedding day, 16th, 18 or 21st birthday birthday or any other important birthday! Basically any really important date. The possibilities are endless. I purchased two of these, and as soon as I opened it I wanted to order more!
I'm working on my THIRD countdown calendar! This one will be used to count down to the birth of my first grandbaby...it will be given to my daughter in connection with a "non-traditional" shower; something I have titled "Shower in a Box." Guests are invited to purchase a gift and send to me...all gifts will be assigned a number...all gifts and countdown calendar are being sent to my daughter...for twenty five days, she will be instructed to open the gift that corresponds to the countdown box. Invitations to the "non-traditional shower" match the motif used to decorate the countdown calendar. I love the quality of this product and it's flexibility!
This fun set of drawers is not just for decorating as a countdown calendar! Use it to help organize your scrap/craft area, too! You can use the drawers to keep small items like buttons, brads, eyelets, letters and more right at your fingertips. Attach a sample of each item to the front of the drawer to help you easily locate what you need, when you need it. You can decorate the drawers to match the decor of your room, too!
Or use it to sort and organize your kid's collection of Legos, K'nex, Barbie accessories, etc. So much fun!
This is a great countdown calendar and as everyone metnioned, you can use it for more than just a countdown to Christmas. I think it would make an excellent storage center for small embellishments - brads, buttons, eyelets, metal. I made mine an Advent Calendar and the drawers are small enough that you can just use scraps to cover the drawers, a few embellishments and you are done. Check mine out in the gallery. Some of the drawers fit very snug and are harder to get out, put it is a great project and cute box! Highly recommend!

I have just finished my Countdown Calendar, and I love the way it turned out.
Just a note to let everyone know that the product isn't exactly 8 x 8, the drawers have to go in the way you take them out before embelishment, or they don't fit right.
The calendar was everything I expected, and now I just have to figure out how to display it. I think hanging from a ribbon will be too heavy after filling the drawers. Perhaps Karen Foster can work on that one for the future.

I love how many different types of projects you can create with this countdown calendar. I chose to made an advent calendar for my children. I have one for each of them and will put little candies or trinkets in each drawer. This is a high quality product that will last through the years.
Had fun decorating Countdown Calendar and my 4 year old grandson thought it was wonderful. He checked it everyday. I even order two so that I could give one next year to another "Grandma" that is a friend of mine.
I loved this product, it came in great condidtion. I loved that there was a little drawer front template for you to cut out and use to cut pp to fit the drawer fronts. My only two downsides were I wish the finish was matte - would be easier for paint and elements to adhere to and I wish the drawers were just slightly bigger. I used this for our family's advent calendar and it turned out way cuter than I had pictured it. The drawers are about 1.5" cubed and really only hold very small toys or candy - not the best for my 1 year old, but as she gets older I think it will work great!!
This was a great project to work on as I created an advent calendar for my child. I love the concept but it won't hold more than a few candies (if that) so I found myself improvising with the trinkets that the christmas fairy left each night. I covered each box in festive holiday paper and holiday embellishments and got great raves for the work I did. If they made this bigger I would buy it in a heartbeat. The price is a little high for something this small but my final project came out so great that I think it was worth it.
This was a fun item to use to make my granddaughter an advent calendar. The box fronts are the right size for a large square punch and I cut out the finger slots by using half of a circle punch befor I attached the paper to the box. The drawers are big enought for a couple of chocolate kisses. I sealed it afterwards to keep the wear and tear to a minimum.
