Hi Kathy, The Snap Binders have D rings and the Flipbook has metal prongs (more like a fastener) that fold over.
Flipbooks also need a different sort of Page Protector, as in, they have what I would call another seam that runs down next to the ringed edge (bit hard to explain) to allow the pages to flip over easier. If you have a look at the "flipbook page protectors" the images show the extra seam compared to the normal Page protectors.
I use the Scrap book.com page protectors in all my Simple Stories D rings.... but they don't work really well in Flipbooks.
The Flipbooks are also made of a heavy cardstock where as the Snap Binders are made from a sturdier cardboard.
In my opinion (I also have aging hands) I much prefer the D rings as playing with the fold over metal prongs is rather fiddley.
Having said that though the Flipbooks do have their place as I use them if I am doing a certain themed scrapbook that I will not be adding to and they also make great gifts. eg for baby showers etc. For myself and every day use I much prefer the D Ring Binders.
I hope this has been of some help. :)
