I really didn't think about the fact that most of the time when scrapbooking, the tables are covered with paper, to which this will not stick. It does, however, stick to most anything else, and is the perfect size for my cell phone, which is the reason I bought it. Great Product!!

Is this heat resistant enough to hold a wood burner?

Not sure. It hasn't arrived yet. I ordered it for my heat gun while embossing while scrapbooking and making cards. Can't wait to get it.

2 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" tall I bought it to hold my heat gun, but my heat gun is to big and to heavy. My glue gun doesn't fit either. I haven't found anything yet that it will hold so it's just hanging there on my desk.

The depth of the holder is 4 1/4 and the opening is 1 1/4 by 2 1/2 but the opening is flexible. Actually I bought it for holding scissors and smaller things that I use for card making and scrap-booking so that I won't lose them in the mess on my desk. This is also great for holding articles at the sewing machine. I got the double Holster brand for my smaller glue guns not the big ones. The the points of the bigger glue guns can be sat on the flap that's on the table.
