  • Not the original VersaFine but...

UPDATE 6/24/19: I've found with all the colors of Clair, that heavy application causes the ink to bleed while it's drying. Bummer. Bleed not just through paper, but also sideways. Normal stamping does not have this problem.
    .
VersaFine Clair does not hold details like the original. I've used black Onyx since it was first released; in fact, I hardly use any other ink pad. When Clair came out, I wanted to know what the difference was and did some research -- nothing. I picked up several colors to test for myself and was underwhelmed. Clair just does not hold detail as well. It's a bit more opaque but not enough to matter. It wasn't until ten minutes ago that I discovered why I love Clair! I used a fingertip dauber through a stencil. WOW! Seriously. Deep black, no bleed, no funky chunks, filled to the edges. Then I did some work to get a semi-transparent and was very happy as well. This was on cruddy paper, by the way. Better paper gets better results. My life cannot tolerate wet media like paints and spray inks. I'm buying some more Clair and keeping it with my stencils. Trust me; this is better than Distress and the others. Tsukneko isn't advertising stencilings but they really should.

    Thrilled with this new product

I have recently purchased VersaFine Clair Nocturne and other VersaFine Clair colours and have used them numerous times already. I have found the product to be very crisp, clear and great coverage. It is a joy to be able to use it knowing that I won't have half the stamp missing on my page. As suggested by those using this product, for best coverage, take your time and hold the stamp for a few minutes on the page so to achieve the best stamped image. The product needs to soak in to your paper. The product does stack nicely on top of each other so storage is achieved very easily. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to purchase a great ink.

    Deep, Dark and Dreamy!

This ink is a stamper's dream! It covers stamps beautifully and the ink transfer is juicy and perfect. It takes a little bit to dry (a heat tool helps), but you won't be disappointed in this ink.

Love this ink and this brand

What can I not say enough about Tsukineko! I have all the colors of their dew drop inks in the dye based, chalk and metallics and them mini versafine instant dry pigment inks and just added this baby to test the line and cant wait to add the entire color collection of this one as well.this is now the best of both worlds, of fine detailing and can embossing if I want should I decide 5-10 minutes later to add that little extra detail.

  • Nice dark ink

This is a very nice dark pigment ink that stays wet long enough to be used to heat emboss with clear embossing powder. I like it for watercoloring.

    Better than my original Versafine

This pad replaces my drying out original Versafine. I never thought I'd say this, but...I'm glad my Versafine dried out, I like this even better! The ink pad is smaller than my other pads, but didn't seem to make any difference in my stamping.

    Best black ink

I'm so glad I got this, I've been using it non stop. This ink pad has made me a great stamper in just one day, it's just beautiful! It is so easy to use and I heat emboss with it too. Everything I've done looks amazing. I will never never run out of this as long as they keep making it.

Questions & Answers
  • What is the difference between Versafine Clair and Versa Color.
Are they both pigment inks? Are they used the same way? Are they water or other based?   By: The Garden Baker (14-Feb-21) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Yes both pigment ... though versafine is an oil based pad and dries quicker than regular pigment inks. Also versafine actually conditions your stamps. It’s also great for detailed stamps and solid stamps. I use the versafine Clair for most of my stamping. May need to emboss on glossy surfaces though. • I there any difference between the Versa Fine and the Versa Fine Clair except for the Versa Fine is oil based and quick drying. They both say for fine detail. Is the Versa Fine Clair better for embossing? I am wondering why you would use one over the other.   By: Jerzee (17-Jan-24) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Hello, the VersaFine Clair is a refinement of the Versafine line/formulation. They are essentially both the same oil-based pigment ink. The tone of black is slightly different between the two where Versafine is more of a brown-black and Versafine Clair Nocturn is more of blue black.
