I really didn't like this. You have to push down hard to get enough pressure to cut, much less to expose the blade. Also the templates/ruler slide too easily over the paper, making your cut uneven (either you don't get a true circle that meets or your straight line goes crooked somewhere in the middle of the ruler). I have the Creative Memories templates but you can't get a scalloped edge so that's why I went for this. Even holding down with one hand and pushing equally as hard with the other to run the blade in the track, I couldn't get them to work well together. I use the mat and the freestyle cutter, but dislike using the cutter with the templates. If I thought I could sell it, I would.
I was excited to get this system and try it as I've been really impressed with other Purple Cows products. I'm really disappointed! The cutter doesn't seem to work well with the templates. You have to push down really hard, and even then you'll have to go back with a craft knife to finish the job. It's okay used as a freestyle cutter. I was kind of upset to discover my mat was printed backwards, and if you turn it over you can't see the numbers through it. The straight edge doesn't have the wave side like it shows in the photo. I'm really considering getting rid of it, but the freestyle cutter would be the only reason I might keep it.
Basically, I agree with the other two comments. Wish I would have seen them before I bought it!
