I decided to purchase this tool because of the way I choose to store the mountains of ribbon I have. (Each length of ribbon is stored on fiber cards in an embellishment box.) Because of this method, the ribbon becomes crimped and rumpled after a while causing it to be very difficult to work with at times. What a difference this iron made! It is hot enough that one pass through the flat iron like design (similar to what you may use on your hair) removes all of the pleats in the ribbon!
Not only is it perfect for the above application, but it makes it easier to create pleated ribbon designs and folded shapes like letters, leaves, and flowers! I have also used it to iron out small pieces of fabric to use on my pages and cards.
Since it has an on/off switch, I can leave it plugged into my power strip for quick use and it heats up rather quickly. PLUS, it isn't big and bulky like an iron, so I can pack it up and take it along with me to crops and leave it out on my desk without it taking up a great deal of space.
I know this is a pretty long review, but it is just a small amount of information! I cannot say enough great things about this wonderful tool and don't know how I lived without it before! I would say, if you adore ribbon and have a large collection like I do, this ribbon iron is one you should have in your tool box!!
The plates on mine fit together perfect, and so far I don't have, or found any flaws. I do have a multi outlet mounted on the wall so that I can easily unplug things which helps a lot because there is not an off/on switch.
As for the pressing...well it took all the folds out of the ribbons I've used so far and no scorching the ribbon which is a plus. Just watch out for the ribbons that have screen prints on them, the print will melt off or smear.
I work at a bank and we needed an item to smooth out wrinkled currency that normally would have been sent back to the reserve. So, whenever we receive currency in this condition, all it takes is a few seconds with the ribbon iron and presto! I just wish it had a on/off switch but I understand why it doesn't. Unplugging from the outlet insures that the ribbon iron is definately unplugged!
I was so excited to find this ribbon iron. I often save ribbons from presents I receive and until finding the ribbon iron had to use my hair straightener/flat iron. It worked well, but then I was always having to go retrieve it for styling my hair. The Ribbon Iron works great! Every crafter needs one of these. I do wish it had an on/off button. That would be nice.
When I received this tool I was surprised because I thought from the pictures that it would be smaller than it is. It's not a problem though. I really like how this iron works (pressing both sides of the ribbon at the same time) and I too plug it in to a power strip so I can turn it off with a button instead of having to unplug it.

This little iron is great! I just used it to straighten out some ric rac without have to get out the big iron and board and it did the job in one try... now I can stop not using wrinkled ribbon because I don't feel like getting out the iron!
This is such a great idea and tool to own!! I have so many ribbons that have creases in them and this little tool is perfect for that!!! It's handy, just the right size and does the job great!!!
Works magic!!! Def worth getting and the price is perfect ive scene places that sell it for more then 30 dollars.
This product has me using more of my ribbon. It smoothes out my ribbon so nicely, and did miracles for my ric rac. My ric rac was all scrunched up and the iron just flattened it completely. I like how my ribbon will now lay nicely on my layouts and cards. I do wish that it had an on/off switch, but I have a power strip that I use, so it is easy to plug and unplug. It fits in my crop bag, too, which is a great plus!

As far as the product goes it is great. It works very well. I have used it many times and only on a couple ribbons it did not work.
Flaws,
Even with holding it close it does not make a good contact in some areas (could just be mine).
I also dont like how it does not have an on off switch. I have to climb under my desk to turn it on and off. The switch on the front is a lock shut/unlock switch.
