I have seen lots of folks use this on mixed media projects with different pastes. Now that I have it I have to agree it is a basic you need. The font catches inks, dyes and sprays you might use and add some not only texture but visual interest.

This is a gorgeous stencil I also have one in the larger format and I think Anna's - Finnabair designs are stunning and really versatile.
