What is the difference between dye, pigment and hybrid ink?
Dye inks are water-based and literally dye your paper. The ink is soaked up by the paper or cardstock so they tend to dry fast. Pigment inks are made of tiny particles that will sit on top of your paper and will take a longer time to dry. They tend to be brighter, with a denser saturation of color and work well with dark colors of cardstock. They are also great for heat embossing since they stay wet longer. Hybrid inks are the best of the two ink types (dye and pigment) as they have properties of both inks. They also tend to be more translucent in their appearance. Hybrid inks are suitable for all skill levels of crafters due to their compatibility with multiple mediums and surfaces.
What are color families?
The Scrapbook.com Hybrid Inks are designed in color families. Each color family has four individual colors numbered 1 through 4 (1 being the lightest shade in the group and 4 being the darkest shade of the group). Color families are an extremely important aspect of layered stamping because each of the four colors coordinates together to achieve a dimensional, layered look. Every Hybrid Ink Pad has the color family name and the color family number clearly labeled on the lid along with the name of the ink pad and the ink shade. NOTE: The 1 color for some color families is designed to be an incredibly light whisper of a shade for that group.

I am so impressed by these hybrid ink pads! I have a few of their colors and they all stamp perfectly, they can also be used to blend and other techniques! Best of all they will work with Copic markers! They also work on vellum and water color paper , just make sure you heat set for a few seconds! I really liked that they have almost no odor at all so this is nice for those with sensitivities to smells. Another positive on these is the case, they stack nicely on top of each other and the lid and base have grooves so it makes it easy to grab with your fingers and hold ink pad when in use. Really great inks!
I was hesitant to buy a "Hybrid" ink pad because I had never even heard of one, let alone try one. The selection of colors lured me followed by the affordable price. I have to say, I was blown away when the ink pad arrived! The color was true to what was advertised and the quality and performance of the ink is fantastic. This ink pad works as well as any other dye based ink pad. This is not a distressed ink product, but if you are looking for a good ink pad for stamping and shading, this is a great product for the price.
These hybrid inks are amazing! They blend so smoothly, especially with the domed blending tools. I love how you can layer and blend the colors together to create new shades.

This is just the color I expected when I ordered it. The ink is easy to use for stamping or for doing card backgrounds.
This hue works perfectly with the Rubber Ducky and Daffodil yellow group to create beautiful layered images.
Love this ink! This is a beautiful color perfect for all the fall leaves I am stamping right now. :)

Adore this colour for stamping images, sentiments or blending with.
Used in this project: Easy blending with domed applicators.
I like the coverage of this ink and the fact that it is a hybrid ink. It worked well on vellum as well as card stock. The color was more yellow than orange, so that was a bit disappointing. The color, once stamped on white card stock, did not look like the color on the lid OR the swatch pictured beneath it. It looked yellow on both the white card stock and on plain vellum.
I love the bright cheerful color!
