Clean the machine and its accessories with a slightly damp cloth only. Do not use a cleaning product or chemical cleaners on the machine. Canned air may be used to remove dust and debris from small areas of the machine. If your handle requires lubrication, place a small drop of household dish detergent between the white and bronze parts of the handle and rotate the handle to distribute. Alternately, you can remove and immerse the handle into clean water with dish detergent. To prolong the life of the plates, use both sides and remove any scrap materials after cutting.

“This is the best tool I have purchased in a long time, and for so little money! If you use a lot of the thin metal dies with intricate little holes in them and find yourself picking out the paper in those holes after using the die, this is the tool for you. I usually put a layer of waxed paper between my die and my paper for easy removal, and this tool makes getting those little paper-filled holes clean a breeze. I have been fortunate enough or maybe not so much to have owned a Cuttlebug, a Big Shot, and now a Platinum 6. I first purchased the Cuttlebug and was very shortly disenchanted because I couldn't fit my steel rule dies through it. Which led me to purchasing the Big Shot because I could fit the steel rule dies and other 6" wide items through it. This was several years ago and it was my only other option at the time. But over time I became sick of this huge die cutting machine taking up precious desk space all the time. I die cut often enough that I didn't want to have to put a die cutter away and take it out over and over again. I wanted something that could sit on my work surface and not take up too much room. Because I had already invested in 2 other machines it took me a while but I finally was able to get the Platinum 6 and I am so happy that I bit the bullet and did. It's the perfect combination of form and function. Right out of the box I ran a 3D embossing folder through it and it came out clear and crisp. The handle is a strong metal and it was very easy to turn and get the thick embossing folder through. I then tested it on some super intricate dies and was very pleased. And yes it fits my steel rule dies. I wanted to be able to cut leather, cork and fabric and I like the ability to cut multiples at one time. It's a huge time saver for me. Oh and did I mention it's super cute on my desk too. Happy shopper here :)

The Platinum 6 Die Cutting machine is simply great because you can use it for different die cutting and embossing needs since it comes with the standard platform, clear cutting plates, an embossing plate and mat! It is also so storage friendly which is just another bonus! I can easily fold the panels to put it in my cabinet. By the way, the first thing I noticed when I used this machine, is that it is quieter than others. When you run a die cut through, you won't hear (scary!) cracking or popping noises so there's no need to fear that your cutting pad will break in two. :) So overall, great machine that I'd recommend to anyone.

I absolutely love this machine. I have the Grand Calibur and love it also but at times it is so much larger than I need, I also have the Sapphire and am loving it also because it is great for the tiny things, kind of like the Three
Bears, Papa, Mama and Just Right! I believe the machines to be superior because they are quieter and smoother to operate. Not as cumbersome as the Sizzix products.

I'm a quite experienced die cutting machine user and should say that I absolutely love this one.
First of all and foremost - it does its cutting and embossing job very well (and that's why we buy such products in the first place - to die-cut and emboss).
I used it both with water thin and steel-rule dies and never had any problems die cutting them. It works beautifully with very intricate dies as well.
The instructions on the cutting platform very clear to understand and follow.
I appreciate the fact that embossing mat is included, so I don't need to hunt for it and buy separately.
And speaking of embossing - another feature that I love is that there is a separate plate for embossing.
So there is almost no guessing game of how to create a sandwich, less chances to use a wrong plate risking to break the machine.
The ability to fold it cutting surface is a big plus for me. This machine is very storage friendly. You do need to store plates separately, but I personally do store similar products for die-cutting in a bin, so it wasn't a problem for me.
And last but not least - I really love its clean, modern, Instagram worthy design and look :)

I've had quite a few die cutting machines in my time and this is one of the best. It looks great, and because the platforms fold up it takes little space on the desk when not in use.
I've had the machine a few months now, but I think I'm still learning the best way to use it for different materials, and which sandwiches to use for best results. Like all things, its worth taking the time to experiment!
My one 'issue' is that it's still very stiff and hard work turning the handle when cutting some dies and cardstock. I have a shoulder problem so this is a real concern when I'm doing a lot of die-cutting and embossing. Hopefully the machine will get 'easier in time - I saw somewhere that there might be a motor attachment in the pipeline and that would be really fab for me. On the meantime if anyone has a solution, or suggestions that would help, I'd love to hear then,

I have used many die cutting machines over the years and this machine tops them all. I love the small foot print and ease of use! I use it actually more than I ever thought I would and not usually for paper crafting which is a testament to this machines versatility!

I bought this machine to die cut intricate dies and emboss with stencils. It does die cut the intricate dies, better then other machine I have, but the paper remains in the die and is difficult to remove. So far I have been unable to emboss using a stencil. Used different sandwiches to no avail. My old machine has a magnetic platform and the Platinum 6 does not. Contacted Spellbinders and there is no magnetic platform available.

How wide a die can be run through this machine?

I have this machine and would like to use the cricut vinyl sticky back to cut out things using my steel rule dies. Can I do this??? How can I use vinyl, I do not want to purchase another machine.. Thank you

If you are using steel rule dies, you should be able to cut vinyl with this machine assuming the vinyl is the right size. Hope this helps.

You may be able to do this using the embossing pad and playing around with the sandwich. We hope this helps!

I have followed the instructions explicitly that were included with my spellbinders platinum 6 and have yet to successfully emboss a card with an embossing folder using your instructions. I put in the platform then the embossing folder with the card and then the plastic plate. That in itself just quickly runs through the machine without embossing because there's not enough pressure. I have to add 3 pieces of card stock to make it thicker. Is there something I am missing?

I had to switch to my old trusty Sizzix machine to use 3d embossing folders. I broke a couple forcing the sandwich to go thru, the on-line store I bought them from were so incredibly nice that they replaced them for free. I tried every instruction, emailed for help, tried every sandwich that I found from every stamping guru and I never got it to work. My old machine is reliable and does work.

I had the same exact experience. I followed direction exactly, and it slid through without embossing my paper inside the embossing folder. I tried every way, using different plates. It was either too thick and would not go through the machine or too thin and did not emboss. I figured my machine was defective, so I sent it back. So disappointed as I wanted it to work. If someone has the answer to this problem, I would really like to hear from you. I am not a beginner at embossing greeting cards as I have used the early model of the spellbinder for over ten years. Hope someone has the answer to this problem.
