I'm fairly new to die-cutting, but these circle Framelits are my new favorite! Due to bulk and expense, I balked at buying circle punches, and these Framelits are the perfect solution. Sure, it takes a tiny bit longer to make a cut (but it's nowhere near as time-consuming as doing it by hand), but I'd prefer to save money and space.
They're extremely thin, but not flimsy. Indeed, I was nervous separating them from the packaging to which they were taped, but for as frail as they seem, they sturdily refused to bend. They cut cardstock and photos very cleanly in my Big Shot, and although they were meant for use with Sizzix machines like the Big Shot, I'm fairly certain they'll prove compatible with most of the manual die-cutting machines available. And, as the name implies, they're great for framing. I've already used them to cut photos and cardstock "frames" for the photos, and they look great.
I haven't used them on anything thicker than cardstock yet, but I have my doubts that they'll be effective on anything thicker than a millimeter or two, as the blades are no deeper than that. These work a bit like cookie cutters, with a flat border (approx. 1/8in wide) lying perpendicular against the cutting edge. There are eight sizes in total, and they range in diameter from 1 1/4in to 4 1/4in.
Great variety of sizes, not sure I'll use them all but they are there if needed.
Most Sizzix products are top notch in quality so I know I can rely on their performance. I have found this particular set of framelits to be useful in so many projects. I am very glad I purchased this set. It sure beats buying circle punches in this variety of sizes.
I love my Framelits-Circle cutting dies. They make the perfect accent circle, nice circle cards and great frames for those circle photos. They are easy to use and a great value
Easy to use. I have a bunch of framelits. I love them all!
