With striking color, these deliciously colored Cutting Pads can be easily spotted on any work station. They were specially designed for use in the BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines. Constructed of high-quality polycarbonate plastic, these see-through Cutting Pads allow for easy die-cutting of Sizzix steel-rule dies (Bigz, Movers & Shapers, Originals and ScoreBoards) in the BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines. Simply sandwich the die and material to be cut between the Cutting Pads and roll through the machine. A Premium Crease Pad may be needed in place of one Cutting Pad when die-cutting Sizzix steel-rule dies containing crease rule. Included is one Cutting Pad, also known as a cutting mat, measures 8 3/4" x 6 1/8" x 1/8" and lasts for thousands of cuts. All Sizzix Cutting Pads are meant to be used on both sides. When both sides of the Cutting Pads are worn out, it is time for replacement Cutting Pads.
Combined with the Multipurpose Platform, Essentials Platform or Solo Platform & Shim, the BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines along with a pair of Standard Cutting Pads can also die-cut and emboss Sizzix chemically etched dies and embossing products (Clearlits, DecoEtch, DecoEmboss, Embosslits, Ink-its, Sizzlits, Simple Impressions, Texture Fades, Texture Trades and Textured Impressions). Add an Extended Adapter (to the Essentials Platform) or Solo Adapter (to the Solo Platform & Shim) to create a sandwich for accommodating Framelits as well as competitorsÂ’ wafer-thin dies. Using Framelits and Thinlits as well as other brandsÂ’ dies with the Multipurpose Platform requires the Platform base plus Tabs 1 and 2 to be layered along with Cutting Pads. (All items sold separately.) The diagrams on the Platforms offer easy guidelines about how to make the perfect Sizzix sandwich.

these are just regular cutting pads. BUT... they are no longer MIA on my work space. I'm not terribly messy but the clear plates always blend in to whatever they are sitting on. The colored ones are just one of those little things that makes everything easier.
I ordered a colored set of cutting pads just so those ones are used for embossing folders only & my clear ones are for die cutting only! I find it works out best for embossing & die cutting!
I got these to be non cut plates because I Love the color.

Can I use standard pads on my Big Shot Plus?

Yes, I believe so. I have the Spellbinders Platinum, which is a wide 9" and I use the standard pads with it all the time. Pretty certain you do not have to buy the larger pads unless you are using the larger dies.
