How to use your Vagabond 2 machine:
A simple flick of the latch at the top of your Vagabond 2 machine will release both doors. Before sending your dies and material through the machine, ensure that the Platform, Cutting Pads and die (often known as the “sandwich”) is aligned properly. To align the “sandwich”, press the Guide Flaps inward until they both make contact with the sandwich with enough force to move them into alignment with the machine before encountering the rollers. Once the sandwich is aligned, you can gently slide it into the roller opening and press the power button. You will have to hold down the power button to ensure continued movement of your sandwich through the machine.
Are you working with an especially intricate die or a couple layers of material? Use the directional options at the top of the Vagabond 2 to run your sandwich through two or three times for a cleaner cut.
The Platform is designed to be used when you are cutting or embossing thin materials such as a sheet of paper or cardstock. The Thin Die Adapter allows you to use your Framelits, Thinlits, Triplits and other brands of thin dies in your machine.

Safety Reminders:
TIP: The plastic cutting pads often make loud creaking, cracking, and snapping noises while going through the machine. This is no cause for alarm! This is a normal part of machine operation and the cutting pads and machine are designed to withstand the pressures of cutting. The pads may even show outlines of your dies after use - do not panic! This is totally normal as well! To extend the life of your cutting pads, flip them over periodically.

I waited a long time, and did a lot of research. It paid off. I love the Vagabond 2. I had a few problem dies that I dreaded using, so they were the first dies I tried when I received my machine. They came out perfectly. The machine is much quieter than I thought it would be. I'm loving diecutting again!

I started out making cards by basic cutting out shapes with an exact-o knife. I then upgrades to a Sizzix BigKicks and now I have the Vagabond 2 and wish I had started out here. I love not having to crank the machine, the cuts come out nice and smooth. I can cut multiple pages at a time and the possibilities are endless. I love this machine and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great product/machine.

I had shoulder joint replacement surgery and could no longer turn the handle of my Big Shot. This is fun and easy on my shoulder and fast! I used it yesterday to crank out about 100 die cuts to start my Christmas cards.

Tim Holtz and Sizzix has really done it! They have created the best machine for die cutting and embossing. I highly recommend this machine. I am disabled so the crank machines are a problem. This one makes life very easy for me. And it's really not that much more expensive than the nicest crank machines - so get this one. It makes making multiple cards a breeze. The only draw back is that I have a few really large die's that won't fit through this die cutter. But for the majority of dies out there, this is die cutting heaven!

I haven't had this long, but the few times I've used it, it works like dream! Relatively quiet, easy to use, cuts on the first run thru. I thought I wouldn't like that the button has to be held down, but after using it, it doesn't bother me.
My BigKick magnetic platform works wonderfully with it.
I've tried my thick Sizzix red steel dies and thin dies from other companies.

I have to say this is the first time I have ever owned a die cutting/embossing machine. Though I have researched them many times over the years I never found one that really jumped out at me until this one and I have to say I chose wisely. This machine is absolutely brilliant. It's strong, easy to use and cuts through many different thicknesses of paper, felt and even cardboard. I am able to emboss or cut through many different textures with ease. I am truly thrilled with this machine it is incredible.

Love it! Cuts most dies very cleanly. Since it is electric, no need to use a crank which is good for my arthritic hands. The ability to cut from either side and to just touch a button to reverse the cut is a real plus.

This is my first experience in using the Vagabond. Friend shared how the Vagagabond 1 would freeze but Vagabond 2 doesn't because of improvements. I used it within 5 minutes of opening the box. Easy to figure out. I had the impression by the videos and the look that it was portable meaning battering operated. I wasn't dissatisfied to learn it was not. I am pleased that everything that you need comes with it and that you don't have to buy the plates and platform. After over 50 uses, within the first month of purchases, my plates are beginning to warp or curve so appreciate advice on preventing this for owners of Vagabond 2s.

Absolutely love using the Vagabond 2. Not noisy and can use sitting or standing. My husband suggested I get one and he is my hero...never realized how much easier it would make my crafting.
I love the easy way this machine cuts each die. I have arthritis in my hands and really appreciate the ease of use.

I am considering purchasing the Vagabond 2 but do you have to use only Sizzix dies? There are so many other brands out there so I wouldn’t want to be limited. Thank you.

You are definitely not limited to using only Sizzix dies. You should be able to use any die that fits in the machine. Hope this helps!

Are the original Vagabond and Vagabond II the same size?

According to Tim Holtz, the Vagabond II is more quiet and less likely to jam or bread because it has all metal gears as opposed to the Vagabond I which I guess has some plastic parts which makes it work. It is impossible to cause jams because the Vagabond II will stop before anything jams and this prevents the machine from overheating and breaking. Also, the Vagabond II doesn't have the travel stickers all over it, which is no big deal because it still compacts into a cute suitcase when your not using it.
The Vagabond 2 Machine measures approximately 12 1/2" x 4 5/8" x 9" (closed) and 15 1/4" x 12 1/2" x 10 1/4" (with handle up and doors open). The Vagabond 2 Machine offers an anti-jam technology that will prevent your machine from breaking down (a feature that the Vagabond 1 Machine did not have.

I took my Vagabond to a friend’s house for some die cutting. When I got home I couldn’t find the power cord. It wasn’t in the compartment or in any of my other bags. How do I find a replacement power cord.

Love my Vagabond 2 but be aware that unless it is under the 1 year warranty, Sizzix will not sell replacement parts like the rubber feet. I've had one for several years, it is made to travel (I've taken it to several art retreats,) but the rubber feet pop out and I can NOT get replacements since I lost one my last trip. I was told to look on Ebay by the Sizzix customer service rep and then hung up on when I told them that I couldn't believe that a machine made for travel couldn't get replacement rubber feet.... As someone who has spent thousands on Sizzix products over the years, I've never been this disappointed in them!
