Leaks back into tube, past the plunger; update:rusting

Update: went to use this and discovered gunk growing on the metal plunger bar. A bit of glue had leaked behind the plunger, which I was dealing with. But the rust just makes this junk I can’t use. Disappointed because I was looking forward to using it more. Not worth getting. :-(

I really like using this more than I thought I would, given how long it is. You can get out very small amounts of glue and it doesn’t dry out because no air stays in the tube.

I only filled about and inch and a half to make sure I liked it. I used glitter art glue and it was easy to fill. Using it was great until I realized some was leaking past the plunger and into the back part of the tube. I’ve taken it apart a few times to bump the glue back into the forward part and tried to get the plunger seated where this wouldn’t happen, but it just got worse. I took the tip off to squeeze it down and get the air out so there wasn’t too much pressure, but nothing seems to work.

I’ll keep using it because I like it. I even like the hook on the metal rod—I can hook it on a shelve when I set it aside. Not a ton of glue has leaked so far, but it’s enough to make a mess if I’m not careful. I’ll report back if things improve or it ends in disaster :-)

    Very disappointed

I love We R Makers products and use some of them all the time, so I had high hopes for the Glue Squeeze. I filled the cartridge with Art Glitter Dries Clear Glue and inserted it into the gun. A bunch of glue squirted out, and then it stopped working. For the next few weeks, I tried in vain to get any glue out of it. There are no instructions for removing the cartridge. I finally got it out, and there was rust all over the inside. It's in the garbage.

  • Game Changer!

Finally a glue gun that's easy to use - and easy on the hands! Simple design - like a caulking gun. The tips don't dry out because the caps can't get lost. The glue syringes don't pop out of place during use. The only trick is not to overfill the tubes so the tip blows out (been there done that). Read the directions;-) If that happens, I just screwed the tip back on, after pushing a little glue out to release some pressure. The different tip sizes really give a broad range of application options.

Does this work with solvent based glues?   By: User (04-May-26) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Hello, this is best used with water-based, PVA, or silicone-based glues. Solvent Glues, Epoxy, and fast-drying glues can damage the plastic cartridge, cause leaking, or harden inside the applicator, ruining the tool. • Has the leaking issue been addressed and solved?   By: @StampingTherapy (28-Apr-26) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Hello. Just as with any tool, there are "tricks" for using it most successfully. Here are a few of those...
If the glue is dripping from the tip, gently wiggle the stopper out slightly to release trapped air.
After dispensing, slightly pull back the plunger or unscrew the tip a tiny bit to alleviate internal pressure that causes continued oozing.
For thinner glues (like Bearly Art), filling the syringe to less than half its capacity can stop glue from seeping past the internal stopper.
Ensure the stopper is wiggled firmly back into place before locking the rod.
For very thin glues that seep around the plunger, some crafters place a glove fingertip around the plunger to create a tighter, more airtight seal. By: Scrapbook.com (28-Apr-26) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
