Love the idea of the magnetic self healing plate so I purchased this machine. However, after one full day of cutting, the magnetic plate curled up so bad that I had trouble cutting. The plate is now duct taped to the bottom plate. I thought this machine might solve the Big Shot plastic plates warping issues/constant replacing plates but it has its own issues. Very disappointed.
I really like this machine because I don't have to cut my card down to go through the machine.
I have been a Cuttlebug user since I started card making. My Cuttlebug broke and because Cricut has discontinued them, I had to search for another option for embossing and die cutting. I read other reviews on the We R Memory Keepers Revolution machine and decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did. This is the PERFECT machine for me. Smooth cuts, easy to roll the plates through, and the magnetic mat is wonderful. Tells you exactly what plate to use to emboss or die cut, I really love this machine. The only drawback, and it's not such a big deal, is that it doesn't fold up to save space. It takes up a little more space in my scrapbooking room, but I would trade off space saving for an easy machine that gets the job done.
I have had the We R Memory Keepers Evolution Advanced for several years but not used it much. I found it quite confusing with their directions, I looked online and found directions for the opposite way to stack the plates etc. It has a dial for different thicknesses of paper and for embossing so have to decide what setting it should be on and the dial is very, very hard to turn. I have arthritis in my hands and just couldn't hardly do it. It also has a much longer platform that holds the paper so is more difficult to find a place for the machine when the platforms extend a lot further than the actual platforms of the machine.
I have just tried out the Revolution when I got it, but it couldn't be much more simple. The handle is very, very easy to turn and the platforms are labeled as to what to use for die cutting and what to use for embossing, and which are not cutting services. It also comes with a little instruction booklet which shows a good diagram of how to stack the layers. It has a magnetic platform which is a great help in keeping the dies in place while arranging them and sending them through the machine. I think I had to purchase a magnetic platform separate for the Evolution, and it wasn't as strong. I also purchased an electric motor when I found one on a good sale, thinking that would eliminate my problem of not being able to turn the dial on the machine, It works okay, but overall performance of the Revolution is much better overall.
This is the fourth die cutting machine I have owned and I like the fact of the magnetic platform and cutting surface. The dies stay in place and makes it easier to cut than some of the other machines out there
Very nice for making good proyectos.
I researched embossing/die cut machines before investimg in this one. I'm pleassed with my purchase. The details included in the item information amd reviews were spot-on.
Okay, now first let me say that you have to practically rip money out of my hands cause I'm really frugal. Second, I have horrible hand and arm problems (medical) when it comes to using items or even holding them. Third, I'm intimidated by doing anything new because of my medical issues and because they NEVER turn out good.....BUT...this machine was SO EASY TO USE. I had NO trouble what-so-ever! My hands and arms not only handled operating the machine, but my arms didn't even get tired as I crafted one thing after another. I've done several die cuts with some of the thincut revolution dies and several cards with the Darice embossing folders. The handle on my machine was simple to attach. The instructions easy. The thickness of the handle was great to grip with my hand (bad neuropathy and lymphedema...but still easy to operate!). A few turns of the handle allowed me to look like I've been a talented crafter for years (yeah, ummm,...I'm not only the worst crafter, but I haven't been doing it even a whole year). So, all in all, I'd spend the money again and again just because my results have been so outstanding. ((okay, and I'm loving the comments about being such a great crafter)) I'm looking forward to getting my next order of more embossing folders and die cuts! WooooHoooo!
Let me start by saying the very first cutting machine I bought was a Brother ScanNcut2 shortly after it came on the market a few years ago, and in my short time of owning this Memory Keepers Revolution I've used it more than my more expensive ScanNcut2. It's just so much more simple and because it's manual is also so quiet. I haven't used other manual die cutting machines so I don't know how it stacks up, but I can say set up was extremely simple (just attaching the handle using the included hardware), and the dies I used cut great. It wasn't difficult turning the handle and felt very smooth. My favorite part is the magnetic platform. I don't have to worry about anything shifting as I run it through. I can see how having to purchase dies will add up in the future so I'm planning on buying ones I can use repeatedly. I've used Sizzix Tim Holtz thinlets, Recollections, and Tonic dies and all have worked well. If you're looking for a manual die cutting machine I'd highly recommend this one.
This machine is a great investment! It runs all my die cuts with no problem. I have a mini that had issues with some of the finer detailed dies but this cut them out with ease! Super in love with this.
