September 2009 Color Combo Challenge
Submitted by: Scrapbook.com
Article Courtesy Scrapjazz.com: by Patter Cross

Today's color combination is one I played with last year but I really have not played with it since.  Why?  I do not know because I love this color combination.  I hope you will love it too!  I asked a few of my paper-crafting friends to share their examples with you - Laura Campbell, Elizabeth Carney, and Linda Lucas.  Let's look at our color combination.  Use it for inspiration and have fun.  Here are the colors:

5 ½" x 5 ½" Card by Laura

Laura used a lot of stamps by Layers of Color (www.layersofcolor.com) on her card-the flourish, flowers, leaves and sentiment are all stamps.  Stamping is a great way to bring in different colors on your creation.  Look how she brought in the red by stamping the flourish in red.  Then she added the black stamped flowers followed by some white stamped leaves.  The teal background really makes this card striking!

12" x 12" Layout by Elizabeth

Elizabeth chose to highlight black on her layout.  I love how she used the Moxxie Spirit Dot paper to bring in both the black and white as well as her black-and-white photos.  Her embellishment choices bring in the pops of red, and the teal Scenic Route Garden Grove paper really brings in the teal from this color combo.  This stunning page is so beautifully done!

12" x 12" Layout by Linda

Linda made red her focus.  She also chose to stamp on her page.  She stamped the Layers of Color flourishes in black, and she also stamped the strawberries and flowers.  She then colored the images bringing in more red to her design.  Linda also chose to use black-and-white photos which are such a great touch. It's another gorgeous example!

Card by Patter
These Sassafras Lass papers were perfect for this challenge as they already contained the teal and the red in the design.  I added the black by inking the edges of my papers with black ink and then added the black ribbon and button.  I created the card base itself out of Bazzill white cardstock  thus bringing in the white from the color combo.

I hope you enjoy this challenge and will give it a try.  Tweak the colors a bit for more fun, and be sure to post your creations in the gallery!
