Bazzill Basics Company Overview

Bazzill Basics Paper is synonymous with a quality of cardstock like no other.   It comes in hundreds of colors and many textures, and is a weighted paper that can withstand any techniques that a scrapbooker can throw at it. It does not tear easily when using distress tools, the smooth texture variety does not bleed when using alcohol markers and all of the paper even works beautifully when using watercolors or mist sprays.

Douglas and Marti Jones began Bazzill Basics Paper in 1999 in Mesa, Arizona. The name Bazzill, which rhymes with razzle, was named after Doug’s grandfather. Marti was looking for a unique, acid-free cardstock to stock in the local store she owned, Scrapbooks, Etc. She turned to her husband Doug, the owner of an engraving company that had connections with paper manufacturers, to help her find the product she wanted. At first Doug ordered the paper and cut it into manageable scrapbook sizes. Then other stores wanted this unique product as well and Bazzill Basics was born.

The first product offered was a cardstock with an original texture and in monochromatic colors.

The line has expanded to include other textures, like grass cloth and orange peel, and even makes a smooth textured paper that is great for stamping on.  Each type comes in a multitude of colors that can go with any patterned paper line produced out there.

In recent years, Bazzill has expanded to producing other products besides cardstock. It now has its own patterned paper collections that have matching cardstock stickers, buttons and even paper tape.

One of the recent collections that Bazzill released at the Craft and Hobby Show in July was the Halloween collection, Arsenic and Lace. This collection offers the traditional Halloween colors of black and orange but also contains a fabulous vibrant blue color.  It is a more grown-up version of a Halloween product. The 12” x 12” collection pack comes with two sheets of each type of double-sided patterned papers and ten coordinating pieces of their famous cardstock.

Reasonably priced journaling cards and fun stickers are an add-on to this fabulous collection.

Another fun product that was released by Bazzil was the new Antique Chipboard Frames. Each package comes with six die-cut chipboard pieces. One side of the chipboard is covered with Bazzill’s popular antique paper and the other side is patterned chipboard that can be painted, misted or inked to match your card or layout. These frames come in many shapes and sizes.

Bazzill Paper Company has also designed and produced tools for crafters to use as well. Their famous Splat Mat is a non-stick, reusable work surface that resists everything from paint to ink, and withstands temperatures up to 500 degrees. When you are done with it, you just roll it up and put it away!!

A relatively new tool designed for crafters are their crafting patterns. Each package contains a flower pattern, instructions and tissue paper. All you have to do is add cardstock and use scissors to make beautiful flowers for almost any occasion.

Bazzill Basics Company has grown to be more than just a paper company. It has become a company that produces unique products with the crafter in mind. It currently distributes worldwide and many of their products can be found here at Scrapbook.com.
