A layout I made for the January SATW challenge. I won the 3rd place position and I am still in shock! The moodboard was a very "shabby" vintage one, beautiful in all of it's aspects.

Six years ago I had to let go of my Mother. That is her photo in the tiny frame on the right. I miss her and our times together so very much. But I have my memories to hold on to. And I have saved many precious items that belonged to her. In the large photo you see roses and peonies that Mom patiently dried in her spacious attic. I like to display them at certain times of the year on various tables throughout my home. They remind me of our happy times together in the garden, and the effort Mom made to save her flowers.

I used various framing elements in the composition, some I whitewashed with gesso, others I left in their metallic gold state as they already had a nice aged patina. I applied molding paste through various stencils. Then I made a shabby frame for the large photo with layers of distressed papers. I applied my frames over a gessoed piece of corrugated cardboard, applied inks and from there built up the elements, using torn papers, cheesecloth, fabric bits, flowers and fussy cut elements. Lastly I added beads and paint splatters, applied paint to the flowers, and added a little key. Twine was used to tie the whole composition together.

Thank you to all who may look or leave a comment, I appreciate that so very much!!

I would love for anyone to become a follower on my blog, but I don't have the follow button set up yet!! I'm pretty bad with technology, lol! My blog is: therememberinggarden.blogspot.com......and I hope to have things sorted out there real soon.
