Here’s what Scrapbook.com customers are saying about the Scotch ATG Adhesive Applicator Gun:
Quality ... at a discount
“This tape gun has made crafting so much less expensive for me. All I had to do was compare the price of refills with this gun getting two reels of tape for less than $10 (depending on acid free or not) for 72 YARDS total as compared to about 50 to 60 FEET from other manufacturers for comparable prices. That means the refills give me THREE times as much product. Yes, the gun costs something - I waited for a sale and actually got two, one for acid free tape and one for regular tape, so I wouldn't have to unload and reload one gun to switch tapes in the middle of the roll. I figure I made back the price of the gun within about 3 boxes of refills, and you know the gun will last a lot longer than that. Loading the gun is really no problem. There is a video right here on scrapbook.com and there are directions with pictures that come in every box. After you do it once or twice, it's natural to you. I would say the only drawback is its larger size to accommodate the larger reel of tape, but even that I got over very quickly. At least I don't lose my tape on my desk somewhere! Very highly recommended.” – Sandie H
Love my ATG - I can't believe I waited so long!
“I had heard and read here and on other message boards all about how wonderful the Scotch ATG was. I researched online but couldn't make myself spend $60+ for adhesive. When I heard one was coming out just for us scrapbookers I was beyond excited! This is the greatest adhesive I've ever used! It looks bulky but is SO easy to use. And being bright pink, you won't lose it in the middle of your mess if you scrapbook like me! The adhesive sticks so well - don't even think about repositioning items! The adhesive lasts a really long time. Economically it really is a must-have. I was buying refills for my Tombow Mono Adhesive (which I also like) CONSTANTLY. I got my ATG in August and just refilled it this week! Definitely a must-have for scrapbooks and cards!” – married05
Worth the wait
“I held off buying an ATG but the pink color I could not resist. I love that this one is sturdy but very light-weight to use. It is a bit hard to open but I just ask my son to assist in this task. I won't need to open it to change tape that often, so it all works out. I personally like having all different types of adhesive tools to change to the one that fits the project I'm working on. Just like using a different coffee mug each day. Plus, this model is more affordable for my budget and it was worth the wait to get one. I would recommend this to anyone and I think you'll be happy with your purchase.” - momtojr

I got this when it was on sale for $20. I am so thankful for the sale; this is by far my favorite Adhesive. If I don't like something I give it away or throw it out if it is horrible--some things just aren't worth passing on. I found loading easy for me. I just followed the pictures on the enclosure and engraved on the ATG. The hardest part is getting the door open, as other reviews have commented.
The adhesive is excellent. I think it is the strongest so far. It does take some getting used to; at first I was stringing adhesive. Then I sort of went back just a bit and the stringing stopped. The adhesive lasts great. I tore my tape once and had to rethread it. It was nice to be able to do that. I never could get the Hermafix threaded and either gave it to a store owner or friend to do for me.
I haven't decided If I'll use it at workshops because of the size or not. It is perfect for home. The size makes it easy to find when I make a mess!

I am just not sure if I am not using it right. For some reason sometimes when I am using the adhesive pulls off the paper in a long string and bulks up under my paper... Other than that it is AWESOME! I really like that the roll is so big too... :) Actually hand made christmas cards this year!
I love my Scotch ATGs. I already had a yellow one that I use with 1/2" adhesive, and have been wanting to purchase a 1/4" gun..... With this price, I couldn't pass it up. I purchased three. One for a gift, and the other two for myself. I plan on putting archival safe adhesive in one for scrapbooking, and using the other one for regular adhesive on cards and gift wrapping : )
If you don't already use the Scotch ATG, BUY IT!!!! It is well worth the money.
One drawback for many is the size; but not for me, it makes it that much easier to find on my desk : ) Who could miss that big pink gun?
PS. Loading the gun is a little tricky at first, but after a couple of refills, you will get the hang of it. Just follow the arrows that are marked on the plastic : )
I'm one of those people who doesn't get all the excitement about this product. Either it is the learning curve thing or I am just not able to make mine work quite right. It did take forever to get the thing to open and let me put in a roll. I thought I was going to break it. When I finally did, I guess I didn't get it put in right the first time because it popped out and the roll exploded all over inside the gadget eventually. Thankfully, I was able to rethread the roll and not waste too much adhesive. I also find that I have some problems with the adhesive stretching (instead of sticking to the project) and balling up so that I have to remove it and get my fingers all gummy. It can be very frustrating because it happens fairly often. I do have to give it credit for being a very reasonably priced adhesive - since the roll does last forever and also can give it even more credit for the adhesive being very good at holding. If you put something it place, you'd better really want it there.

A scrappy tool must have is the Scotch ATG Pink Adhesive Applicator Gun. So, so, so many people SWORE that the Scotch ATG was their FAVORITE adhesive applicator. But it was big & red & a little heavy, so I stayed away. Well, when Scotch came out with their slightly less industrial PINK ATG and I found it at a bargain price, I figured I would see what all the fuss was about. THERE IS FUSS FOR GOOD REASON!!! This is THEE VERY BEST adhesive applicator I have ever used! As well as, THEE VERY BEST ADHESIVE I have ever used! 3 major reasons why I love the Scotch Pink ATG & Adhesive: #1: STICKY, STICKY, STICKY--my pages do not fall apart, like they have with other adhesive & the Scotch adhesive for the Pink ATG can adhere to MANY, MANY different surfaces, good for almost any type of sticking you need to do. #2: EASY TO USE APPLICATOR that does not break--to use, pull the trigger and press down & pull towards your body. Simple, right? #3: REFILLS THAT LAST A LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG TIME!! I think this is my favorite, the refills are reasonably priced, do not use a ton of plastic (environmentally friendly!) or take up a ton of space if you like to buy in bulk. AND even if you are an adhesive hog, like me (I have to have adhesive on the perimeter of every piece of everything I put on my pages), they still last a long time. The only complaint I have is that by the time I need to refill the applicator I have forgotten how to do it! Luckily, there are cool little picture diagrams on the inside of the applicator to remind you how to refill :)

I was looking for a new adhesive because getting my favorite by Creative Memories was no longer an option. So I asked some friends what they use. ATG Gun was the answer. I kept putting it off because of the price and buying the little $5 & $6 adhesives. Finally I got a 50% off coupon went to Michael's and bought it! I LOVE it! Easy to load, easy to use. Because it's so large I haven't figured storage yet and I don't like that the tape is left exposed (it's only a little but evey bit counts). The tape is very sticky and works great. It's not repositionable so be sure of where your taping it'll be permanent.

I have wanted an ATG gun for a while now because everyone on the forums rave about it. My mom gave me a giftcard for xmas so I ordered one from j.com and it was only 14.99 with a coupon. Great deal! I was a little worried about loading the tape because some people have had issue with it. The hardest part for me was opening it. Once I got it open I just followed the instructions and bam it was in. Totally easy! I love this gun. The size makes you think it would be heavy but it is not. It makes it easy to see on a table full of paper and embellishments, cutting tools etc. It glides across the page way easier than my Glue Glider Pro does and the amount of tape you get greatly surpases that of the glue glider plus there is no big plastic attachment to throw in the trash when I have to change my tape roll which is great for the enviroment. The adhesive forms a permanent bond and has a great hold so I am not worried about my cards or pages falling apart. Another added benefit is the donation for breast cancer that comes from every purchase. So no matter how you look at it this is a great tool to add to your papercrafting arsenal....BUY THIS IS if you are in the market for a great adhesive machine....
