    Very Sturdy, Cuts Well

A great product. Very solid. The difference between each size is more than 1/4 of an inch which gives a larger border than 1/8 when using the dies to matt a photo or when making cards. I was specifically looking for nesting dies that would provide a 1/8 inch border so I'm a bit disappointed. Nothing wrong with these though, great product.

    Nice dies

I like the Spellbinders matting basics because there are quite a few sizes, which can be combined to make frames, as well as mats, for backgrounds of cards, etc.

    Spellbinders Die Cutting & Embossing Templates-5 x 7 Matting Basics A

I have always liked Spellbinders cutting dies. I wanted the complete set, and realized that I didn't, I came back to Scrapbook.Com I was overjoyed to get this set of dies to complement, complete my collection. If you are a beginner in the crafting world, I suggest the Matting Basics A & B, you indeed want make borders, or layering panels for cardmaking projects. The prices for these dies are very nice as well.

Questions & Answers
  • Would any of the dies leave 1/4 of an inch all the way around a 4x6 photo?   By: scrappin 2 (11-Jun-22) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • I'm sorry, but I've never tried to make a frame with any of my rectangle nesting die sets. I wish I could help you and wish you luck in finding just the right dies to make your frame.

It doe occur to me that, if you have a paper trimmer, you might be able to make a frame by cutting a rectangle larger than what you wish to frame, then using a rectangle die to cut away the inside portion of the paper trimmer cut, to get your frame that way. I hope I haven't confused you and that you will be able to work out making your frame. By: mawmawvee (12-Jun-22) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I am looking for a die cut that will frame a 4x6 photo, equally on all sides. Would the largest die do that?   By: scrappin 2 (10-Jun-22) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Scrapbook.com - Decorative Die Set - Nested Rectangles has a 4 x 6 die. By: moosie36 (11-Jun-22) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • I have both the Spellbinders 5 X 7 Matting Basics A and B. I love these dies these are are pretty much what what they say they are. I use the matting basics A for my borders, and matting basics B for layering. I agree, I would love more 5 X 7 dies! I feel the the A2 cards don't have enough room (for me) to really create what I want. Maybe get the matting basics A since the rectangles in this set are a bit larger, take a pencil, and carefully trace around the the outside and inside, either use a paper trimmer, or scissors cut the out side, then use a exato knife to trim the inside out. Good luck, I hope that maybe you may find a better solution. By: dbolden5690 (14-Apr-25) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
