I really liked my Wendy Vecci STAY-tion until the grid lines started disappearing! I had used it for only a couple of weeks when they started rubbing off. I only cleaned it with a soft cloth but they came away with gentle rubbing. The grid lines is what made this product great to help line up work and keep it straight. Sadly, I cannot recommend this product to anyone else.
I'm on my second. Ranger replaced the first. While the magnets are good and the blank side is good, the grid side does not wear well. As with the first, I haven't cleaned it, nor used harsh media on it. The grid is smearing off. I have only used colored pencils (no gamsol) and i hold it on my arm while coloring. Now I'm left with basically a blue metal plate and some nice magnets.
Simon Hurley recommended this on his video and I don't regret the purchase! The magnets are strong and I use it when I'm stenciling. I love this product!!!

I initially bought this for the reason it was invented .... to hold stencils in place. I am learning calligraphy. I find it very helpful to keep my original sheet and copy sheet in order also. I brought it to my class and my instructor said she needs to get one of these.

I am very pleased with the Make Art Stay-toon. I have been using it now for several days with stencils. The magnets hold the stencils down solidly and they do not move at all. The magnets are as described, easy to separate, stack nicely, and hold yiur item stightly to the surface. The Stay-tigon surface cleans easily and is ready to go again. Very pleased.
SO GLAD I BOUGHT THIS ITEM, JUST THE RIGHT SIZE TO TAKE WHERE NEEDED AND HOLDS EVERYTHING JUST THE WAY NEEDED .NOTHING MOVES WITH THE MAGNETS AND THEY DO NOT PINCH YOUR FINGERS. DO NOT KNOW I WAS ABLE TO DO THINGS WITH OUT IT. SAW IT USED AND KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT!
This is perfect size for stamping or working with cards. Seems very durable and cleans up easily.

How easy does the mat clean up after spray stains, paint and archival ink?

We suggest you use our Non-Stick Craft Sheet (NSC20677) on the surface when using fluid type mediums as well as Archival Inks.

We've never had this question before! We would suggest you check with your Healthcare Professional for guidance as I am sure each person has individual conditions that may be applicable. The Stay-tion does have four 1" magnets and a 12" long, flexible magnetic ruler. Thank you!

Am considering buying this product but, if the lines rub off l don�t think I want to make an investment. Does anyone know if Ranger has addressed and fixed this problem?

Yes, Ranger recognized there was an issue with the grid lines rubbing off and has rectified the issue with the manufacturer; that being said there could be older versions out there. Please feel free to email [email protected] with a photo, receipt copy (or date/place of purchase) if you ever encounter an issue with the grid lines rubbing off. Please also NOTE: Solvent-based and other harsh and/or rough cleaners will remove the gridlines and should never be used on the MAKE ART Stay-tion surface. Recommended cleaning is with mild soap, water and a soft cloth.

No, this product is metal so it will heat up and it is recommended to use a non-stick heat-safe mat for use even with heat embossing tools. For the freestyle pens you can use the Foil Quill Magnetic Mat for this. Hope this information helps!

Is it thin or light enough to slip between pages of an art journal, e.g. for stenciling on bound pages? Or would it be too thick/clunky for this purpose? (I don't work on cards or loose sheets very often.)

Hello! It depends on the binding of the journal. Since we have a few journals in the Ranger product line that is our point of reference. I just tried it out with both the large and small Dylusions journals as well as the Dina Wakley MEDIA Journals and it seems to fit quite nicely. Please note the Make Art Stay-tion is 12" x 12" so depending on the size of journal, it's probably going to hang over the sides a bit.

Yes, if you hold it still it is a nice weight of metal, it isn't flimsy and doesn't bend or buckle.

Regarding the grid lines, has anyone tried applying clear contact paper to the grid side to keep the grid lines from rubbing off? Has anything else been tried to address this issue, such as going over the lines with a paint pen?
