Description & Details

Getting creative and making beautiful, handmade artwork is a way of life. But what if we told you that all your crafting is about to get easier? The Make Art Stay-tion by Wendy Vecchi for Ranger Ink is the crafting game changer you never knew you needed.

Contents:

  • One 12" x 12" steel magnetic base with a printed grid
  • Four brushed aluminum magnets with soft foam backing
  • One flexible magnetic centering ruler

Sizes:

  • The steel magnetic base measures 12" x 12"
  • Each of the magnets measures 1" x 0.25"
  • The flexible magnetic ruler measures 12" x 1.25"

This magnetic workspace holds your projects securely in place, ensures precise alignment, and helps you produce wonderful results with ease. The best part is, it's perfect for at home, on the couch, road trips, on the airplane - almost anywhere you can think of!

Features:

  • Constructed of one piece of solid, sturdy metal so that it won't bend or warp when you're working with it.
  • Even though it's metal, it's lightweight and easy to pick up and move.
  • Take it on-the-go! It's perfect for crafting on the couch, on an airplane, in the car, or anywhere else the mood strikes!
  • No sharp edges - the corners of the Make Art Stay-tion are rounded.
  • The ruler is 12", with a center mark for perfectly-centered projects.
  • Can easily be used one-handed, or by those who have limited mobility in their arms, hands, or fingers.

If you've ever wanted to get perfect stenciled shapes and sentiments with ink, blending, paints, glazes or other mediums - this is the tool for you. The strong magnets and precision work surface ensure that your stencils stay exactly where you want them to so you get perfect transfers while you make a masterpiece.

If you want to get perfectly centered, absolutely aligned sentiments stamped on your cards every single time, Wendy Vecchi may be your hero. The Make Art Stay-tion is a wonder when it comes to getting all the perfect little touches and accents right the first time.

How to use your Make Art Stay-tion:

  • For stenciling, line up your paper or cardstock and place the stencil over it. Secure both pieces in place with your magnets. Your paper and stencil won't slip or slide as you're blending, adding ink, mediums, or paint in a fun, stenciled design.
  • If you want to ensure your stamps and sentiments are perfectly straight and aligned, place your card on the grid and secure it in place with the magnets. Use the magnetic ruler to find a straight edge in alignment with the lines on the Make Art Stay-tion and then get stamping!
  • For heat embossing, you'll want to grab a non-stick, heat resistant craft sheet and secure it to the grid using the magnets. Place your project on top and then have some fun with your embossing inks, powders, and heat tool. Use caution, as the Make Art Stay-tion will become hot.
  • Create however you like! The magnets will hold a card or project in place so you can add layers, die cut pieces, accents, embellishments, and more without shifting as you work!

One of the best features of the Make Art Stay-tion is its portability. Its sturdy and lightweight magnetic design means that you can take it and your project in progress with you wherever you go. Slide it into your tote bag, your carry-on, or just grab it as you hop in the passenger seat for a road trip. Your sketches, cards, layouts, coloring pages, doodles, journal cards, and everything else will stay in place as you work!

Tips for using your Make Art Stay-tion:

  • Do not use the Make Art Stay-tion as a cutting surface, as blades will damage it the metal and grid lines.
  • The magnets are strong - handle them with care to avoid getting pinched.
  • If you're looking to make a creative mess with paints, glossy accents, or inks, use a non-stick craft sheet on top of your Make Art Stay-tion.
  • If you're using a heat tool, it's best to use a heat resistant craft sheet on top of the base. Also, try to keep your project in one corner of the Make Art Stay-tion to avoid the entire workspace getting too hot to handle. Ensure that it is fully cooled down before handling again.

How to clean the Make Art Stay-tion

  • Clean up is so simple - grab a damp cloth and a little bit of dish soap to gently wipe the surface and you'll be good to go!
  • Make clean up even easier when you use a Ranger Non-Stick Craft Sheet on top of your Make Art Stay-tion.

This amazing tool is exactly what you need to transform the way you craft. You'll be blown away by the perfect results in your stenciling, stamping, heat embossing, drawing, coloring, and everything else. It will be your new go-to work surface for home or on-the-go when crafting inspiration strikes.

    Love this product!

I ordered this Make Art STAY-tion back in June, but I just started using it this month (August). And wow! I love it! I am a card maker and the magnets hold my card down so securely when I am trying to align something or add a layer.
I wouldn't have waited so long to use it if I knew it worked this well. I haven't used it to stencil anything yet, but that is next on my list.

    I just love it!!

I have been waiting for something like this to become available. It's fantastic and I use it either on my Tim Holtz Glass Mat or on my knee in front of the TV at night. It's a good weight and the magnets and ruler are good and strong. In my opinion this Make Art - Stay-tion is a must have in the craft room.

    Game Changer!

I seriously love this little board. There is nothing I would change or add. One side gridded, one side plain. The flexible magnetic ruler is very flat, so it doesn’t get in the way when I’m stamping. Magnets are strong but move freely. The whole board is lightweight; mostly I use it on my desk but I can also use it at an angle on my lap to color when I’m watching tv. Every crafter needs one!

    4 Great Magnets

I was so happy with this product until the grid lines started to disappear. I too bought it to line up cards along those lines and without those it is pretty much just a plate. I wish I knew that Ranger recommended the use of their non stick mat over it, they did not do enough testing. This was my first Wendy Vicchi purchase and I won’t repeat it. Oh yes, the magnets are super, big and strong.

    Make Art Stay-tion

I LOVE this more than I thought I would. Looks great on my desk, and the magnets are much stronger than I thought. I've done a Craft Haul on my YT channel demonstrating this @weekendcraftaholic if you want to see for yourself. The paper really doesn't move even when putting pressure on blending with stencils. I found it did move on my desk though, but I've added some non-slip material at the back and now its perfect. Definitely recommend if you always feel like you need an extra pair of hands

    Great surface for on-the-go crafting

Great product the works as expected. Love the magnets and magnetic ruler. Perfect accessories. If you haven't, watch Wendy's video fro CHA. She explains her brilliant thinking on the development.

I rated only 4 stars because the surface was scratched very early on and I can't figure out how it happened. That's, my only caution, surface is delicate. Handle with care.

    A must have for crafters!

I am very pleased with the Make Art Stay-toon. I have been using it now for several days with stencils. The magnets hold the stencils down solidly and they do not move at all. The magnets are as described, easy to separate, stack nicely, and hold yiur item stightly to the surface. The Stay-tigon surface cleans easily and is ready to go again. Very pleased.

    Fantastic

I have debated on buying this for quite a while and I'm glad I finally took the plunge. It is lightweight and easy to use. I was surprised when the magnets didn't attract to each other and that is amazing.

  • Am considering buying this product but, if the lines rub off l dont think I want to make an investment. Does anyone know if Ranger has addressed and fixed this problem?   By: MJHecate (17-Oct-21) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Yes, Ranger recognized there was an issue with the grid lines rubbing off and has rectified the issue with the manufacturer; that being said there could be older versions out there. Please feel free to email [email protected] with a photo, receipt copy (or date/place of purchase) if you ever encounter an issue with the grid lines rubbing off. Please also NOTE: Solvent-based and other harsh and/or rough cleaners will remove the gridlines and should never be used on the MAKE ART Stay-tion surface. Recommended cleaning is with mild soap, water and a soft cloth. By: Ranger Ink (18-Oct-21) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

  • Is the mat heat resistant so I can use it with the freestyle foil pens?   By: siameseplease (02-Feb-20) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • No, this product is metal so it will heat up and it is recommended to use a non-stick heat-safe mat for use even with heat embossing tools. For the freestyle pens you can use the Foil Quill Magnetic Mat for this. Hope this information helps! By: Scrapbook.com (03-Feb-20) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Is it thin or light enough to slip between pages of an art journal, e.g. for stenciling on bound pages? Or would it be too thick/clunky for this purpose? (I don't work on cards or loose sheets very often.)   By: Lotusmira (25-Jul-19) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Hello! It depends on the binding of the journal. Since we have a few journals in the Ranger product line that is our point of reference. I just tried it out with both the large and small Dylusions journals as well as the Dina Wakley MEDIA Journals and it seems to fit quite nicely. Please note the Make Art Stay-tion is 12" x 12" so depending on the size of journal, it's probably going to hang over the sides a bit. • Regarding the grid lines, has anyone tried applying clear contact paper to the grid side to keep the grid lines from rubbing off? Has anything else been tried to address this issue, such as going over the lines with a paint pen?
Clear contact paper is obviously more delicate than a metal surface. Therefore, that side would be used only when a grid is needed and the non-grid side would be the default side. Additionally, it could never be used with a heat/ embossing tool. Bonus, the clear contact paper might also be helpful with wet materials for some applications in lieu of the craft sheet. Thoughts?   By: Melmac62 (31-Jan-20) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • We wouldn't recommend putting contact paper on the board as it would likely remove the grid lines if you ever have to replace the contact paper. We'd suggest contacting the manufacturer directly to get their thoughts: https://rangerink.com/pages/get-in-touch-with-us By: Scrapbook.com (05-Feb-20) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • I did put clear contact paper on mine, as the lines were starting to rub off, even with careful use. I don't intend to remove it, but if I did I'm sure it would finish the job of removing the lines. I don't intend to use it for heat embossing either so I'm fine with it. The contact paper has saved all the lines that weren't damaged, and if I'd not put it on, they'd be gone! It is easy to wipe clean with the contact paper film on, so it works well for what I use it for. By: Chrysocolla (13-Mar-24) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you!
