MY first one was a little shaky...but I got the hang of it. I was blown away by how fast and easy it was. Thanks Tim for a cool die for those of us who are Rosette "challenged" !
All I can say is Tim Holtz at his best again. He only gives the highest quality of products. Had a little trouble at first manipulating the rosette but once I got the hang of it -- oh the possibilities!!
What an interesting design! This is a SIZZLITS die, so will cut paper and cardstock (but not heavy chipboard or fabric - which would be nice - someday - Tim, are you listening??) Because the die cuts the paper into a long strip with horizontal perforations (for folding), the paper needs to be sturdy enough to survive that punishment........OR you need to reinforce it with a piece of tape (TH's Tissue Tape works nicely!) before folding.
I DID have trouble getting my first rosette together, even after watching the video. But practice!! It's a clever design and looks great when you use Distress ink to give the piece dimension.
Tim Holtz's rosette dies are fabulous. These rosettes add a real touch of class to any page layout or card and you will quickly fall in love with these embellishments. Highly recommend these rosette dies to everyone.
This die works great as long as you use some type of paper tape or washi tape to keep the perforations from tearing. I really like it with the added washi anyhow so it really added to the appeal of what I was looking for. I bought the mini rosette first and was glad to find the large rosette die here at Scrapbook.com.
I saw this die demonstrated by Tim Holtz at Scrapfest at the Mall of America in September. The die was available on Scrapbook.com and ordered it. The rosette is exactly how Tim demonstrated. The die has perfect folds and looks wonderful when completed. The only concern is not to use really thin paper as the die will perforate deeply so the paper may tear when folding.
I find using the TH rosette die so easy and fun. You can cut two of different colors/designs and glue them together to make a bigger rosette.. great.

I absolutely love this die. I was debating about waiting and getting the other one that cuts two smaller sizes, but then had the idea of running the pp through and then trimming it, and it works perfectly! I love the layered look you can get with this.
I use my zig pen to attach the ends, and no problem at all. If I don't have time to hold it together for a few seconds, I simply grab a bull clip and let that hold it while I do something else.
Two things...1) When you put the center circle on the front and back, it's best to use your glue gun. Glue dots didn't hold it for me. 2) if you're cutting this with the Big Kick/Big Shot, you need to have the extended platform and the extended plates.

I loved the look of the Rosette. I made a larger one by using two strips. Easy to follow directions and you can see Tim make then on the web.
