This is a great size for making cards with, and I found it much easier to handle than the larger Tim Holtz platform.
However, I found that i have the same issues with the Travel Platform that I had with the original. When your card stock is butted up against the ruler edges, you almost have to stand up and put your hands straight down on top of the top to get your stamp to give a full impression. At first I thought it was my stamps, but realized it was not.
What a great tool. I have the larger platform, but find I don't use it much because I have to stop, drag it out, clean off a space and use it for one stamp. This travel platform should be called the "mighty worker" instead of travel size . It is small enough that it can stay on my craft table, takes up no room and I find I use it constantly. I sincerely doubt I will use the large one any more. This is perfect for all my stamping needs and because it is somewhat open when a stamp is used, I can use all sizes of paper. I LOVE this platform. Thank you Tim for "going small" on this.
I just love this Stamp Platform. I have the larger Tim Holtz one, and this one is just as sturdy.
I have the mini MISTI, which I use a lot, but I love the fact that you can use bigger card stock in the Tim Holtz platform, as one side and the bottom are open. It is so simple to use for both rubber and photopolymer stamp sets, no having to insert anything, simply turn the door around for whichever set you are using. It is well made, but still very light. Just love it.

I was recently sent the Tim Holtz travel stamp platform to review. I was pleasantly surprised at it's size. The word "travel" made me think it would be smaller for some reason. In fact a large 6" x 6" stamp can easily be used in the platform. The clear acrylic lid is etched with grid lines to make lining up your stamps a breeze. The lid is hinged to be removed. One side is marked "rubber". When this side is facing up, you can stamp cling foam mounted rubber stamps. The other side is marked "clear". When this side is facing up, you can stamp with clear stamps. The platform comes with two round magnets used to hold your paper in place to the magnetized base while stamping. The upper left corner has plastic stoppers to butt your paper up against to ensure correct stamping every time. The bottom right corner is only smooth platform. This means you can use the platform to stamp on a larger paper. A 12x12 layout for example. Having a stamping tool to be able to restamp in the exact same spot over and over will save many projects from the trash! 5 stars from me!

I have several different brands of stamping platforms, but found that I prefer the Tim Holtz Tonic Studio platform. I love the smaller size of the Travel platform. It has all the functions as the other Tonic platform but I actually use it more often because it is so handy.
I have purchased two other brands of stamp positioning platforms in the past, and the larger Tonic Studios - Tim Holtz - Stamp Platform, so I have personally worked with all of them and compared their performance and quality. By far this one is my favorite. It is compact enough to leave on my countertop for daily use, and the quality design and performance is superior. I highly recommend the Tonic Studios Brand and especially the Tim Holtz designed products.
The travel stamp platform is perfect for when I need to make a precise placement of a stamped item in a hurry. I love the size and the performance. It's a great complement to my larger stamp platform. The small size does not keep it from being a favorite tool in my crafting arsenal. Lightweight and easy to use.
Today I have had my first play and I've got to say.....I LOVE IT!!
I have the original MISTI and I use that all the time I also own the We R Memory Keepers equivalent and that would by my least favourite.
I must say it is quite heavy and almost the same size as the MISTI but I am sure I will be reaching for it for a long time.

Hello! As the manufacturer stated below, "The stamping surface of the Travel Platform is approximately 6" square. However, the right and bottom sides are open which allows you to insert any size paper you have." Hope this helps.

You can use 12x12 paper; however, because this is the smaller travel size, you may not be able to stamp where you really want if you're looking to stamp more to the middle of your paper. The standard size platform may be more of what you will go to for 12x12. If you are just stamping at the edges or within the 6x6 area and not concerned for the rest of the page on 12x12, then yes, you can use the travel platform. That said, a travel size *and* a standard size platform together will cost less than some other platforms out there. Personally, I have both, and the travel size is used more, as I do not stamp on a lot of projects requiring a 12x12 size. I do not regret at all having bought both, though, as I have the tools for my various needs and can use either. I've been very happy with them.

It might depend on the size of your journals. Honestly, I think both would work well. I use my travel size platform more than my standard size, but I really am glad I have both. The prices here give you the option to own both for less than another brand out there, and I don't think you could go wrong even if you just bought the travel size.

All stamps have a different thickness...I have found that a shim of sorts helps with this, I use fun foam cut to fit the platform.

Yes you can, utilizing the 2 open sides for the excess journal, and the magnets to hold it steady...making a note of where edges of your page sit on the platform...for double stamping an image
