This one was a challenge and full of "mistakes."

On July 29-30, I attended a virtual, paid private card making event called Maker's Mojo Creative Escapes on facebook. It was quite the fun time! This card is based on one of the 10 different projects presented over 2 days. Maybe I should say "loosely based," because I had to change up some things due to an early, and big mistake. Nonetheless, I'm ok with how it turned out, even though it may be a bit over the top. Then again, it is for a 65th anniversary card, so maybe that is ok.

The basic idea for this card was to have an elevated frame (with foam tape) trapping half a big rosette. I changed several measurements to suit my preferred style. Well, I sat down to make the card, but my big, first, early mistake was choosing a filigree border frame - which after made I realized I could not elevate it with foam tape because it would show through the frame! Well, I wasn't about to waste the papers and frame, so I did a lot of improvising and came up with this.

The rosette paper is gorgeous, and has metallic gold highlights. I decided to go metallic all the way. Every die cut - with exception of the sentiment piece - is cut from some kind of metallic or foil card stocks. The only stamping is the front sentiment, and I heat embossed it in rose gold embossing powder to compliment the rose gold and gold specialty textured paper I used for the pansies. I did cut and stack four of the borders, which was more fun since I had to cut out the centers.

It took me forever, with each challenge being addressed to an end result I can live with. Besides, it's handmade, right?

Stampin' Up! supplies: Texture Chic Specialty Designer Series Paper, Copper Foil Sheet, Gold and Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper, Distressed Gold Specialty Paper, Pearlescent Paper (ret.), Evening Evergreen card stock, Elegantly Said stamp set (ret.), Pansy Dies, Chic Dies, Stitched So Sweetly Dies (ret.), Brushed Brass Butterflies embellishments.

This one will require a custom box instead of an envelope - lots of high dimension. Fortunately, this one is going to be hand delivered.
