The Ranger craft mat states "nothing penetrates the surface". Will anything penetrate the surface of this mat? Is it totally non-porous?

My daughter has used it with acrylic and oil paints when se does her paint projects and it comes right off. I have spilled hot glue on it and it peals off. It's a good product to have.
