There is a 6" ruler on the top and bottom edges (measurements are in both inches and metric). The guides at top and bottom allow for quick and easy paper alignment, as does the 1/4" grid pattern with popular paper size markings. The paper guard protects fingers and prevents the paper from moving.

“My Tim Holtz Non-Stick Micro Serrated Scissors are 2.5 years old and I have NEVER had to have them sharpened and they are nearly as sharp as the day I got them! I adore the versatility of these scissors--they can handle tough paper, even chipboard/grungeboard with ease, but also have a small tip and the sharpness to be used for detailed cutting. Also, these scissors are great it you tend to be accident prone (like I am) they do not easily cut your skin like some more "knife-like" scissors. (All scissors are incredibly sharp and should be used with caution, especially around children. These are NOT child-proof scissors and may not be suitable for children.)
