This bar magnet coordinates with the MISTI (sold separately) from My Sweet Petunia. The bar provides extra security when stamping using the MISTI. The magnet fits perfectly into the base of the MISTI and each magnet measures 2.5" x .5". These magnets are made from neodymium and are very strong but brittle and should be handled with care.
Note per the Manufacturer: "Neodymium magnets are very brittle and very strong magnetically. Therefore, it is crucial to handle these magnets with extreme care to avoid personal injury and damage to the magnets. Fingers can be severely pinched between attracting magnets. Magnets can chip if allowed to “jump at” an attracting object. It is highly recommended that when constructing rare earth magnetic assemblies, they are magnetized after assembly.
Because of their brittle nature, magnets will not be warrantied, replaced, returned, or exchanged."
The magnet is awesome holding down the heaviest cardstock, even 140lb card! I have no complaint using it on the bare MISTI platform.
But (you know there was a but) using the MISTI mini mouse pad insert the magnet seems a little thick.
The mat can squish, but pushing it down messes up the print. I use temp glue tape to hold the card down.
It may be the fault of the insert as it is brand new.
No matter what, I love both of my sizes and wouldn't exchange my ORIGINAL MISTI's for any of the copies the other companies make.
I'm so glad misti made a better magnet for the MISTI Stamping Tool. This magnet is really strong now my paper doesn't rise when I'm done stamping. I really love this bar. I bought 2 of them :-)
Ordered this as a second one to hold things in place on my Misti. A very essential tool for cardmaking.
I have been using magnets similar to this Misti bar magnet but are thicker which makes it difficult when using your Misti. So I finally broke down and bought 2 of these magnets and they are just perfect for using in the Misti, I just wish they didn't cost so much.
Scrapbook.com does charge less for them than other crafting websites, thankfully.
So excited this finally is back in stock. It works so much better than the little round magnets that came with the set, which are chipped and don’t hold very well. I think I’ll order another one!
I’m glad to have this 2nd super strong magnet to use in my MISTI as well as on my magnetic tabletop workboard. I like the fact that it’s slim, but mighty!

Is there a way to protect the magnet from chipping or breaking when using/storing it? I watched one of your videos (can't remember which one), and saw that the demonstrator had wrapped her magnet in "painters tape?" - except she kept the ends free of tape. Does this help protect it from chipping? What is the advantage of wrapping the magnet? Thank you for your time.

Hi, What are the dimensions is this bar magnet? It says in description, 2.5� x .5 �? How can the thickness be a 1/2 �. Thanks.

As answered by other user, 1/2” is the width of the magnet and 2.5” is the length. I feel thickness is just a tad larger than 1/16” but not quite 1/8”. Definitely powerful for its size. I’ve been happy with my purchase.
