Questions & Answers
  • Can you tell me the difference between 50pt. and 90pt. chipboard? I plan to use the 12x12 size as dividers in my verticle paper storage. Don't want them too thick, but sturdy enough to hold the weight of several papers as I thumb through them. Thanks!   By: mpittman (30-Mar-18) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I can’t give you an exact difference. But I can say that the 50pt is pretty sturdy. The 90pt is very thick. The 90 is great for signs or decorations. It’s hard to describe.

I received both just today. The 50 had some damaged corners. The 90pt was perfect. Too thick to arrive with damaged corners.

Here’s a good analogy. I took 25 pieces of various weight Reminisce Cardstock. I held a corner of the 50pt and placed the paper on the chipboard. It bounced on the opposite corner, but still held. I then did the same with the 90pt. It held very well, very little bouncing on opposite corner. So I suggest if you have chipboard, try that test. If it bounces some but still holds and you aren’t happy with it, go with 90. It it falls over and just want something slightly sturdier, go with 50pt.
