The Beginning of Scrapbook Customs
Scrapbook Customs, formerly known as Stamping Station, started when JoLynn Potter wanted to open a stamp store to share her love for stamps, crafts, and creativity with the community around her. So with a few thousand dollars on loan from her husband, she opened an 800-square-foot stamp store in 1995.
After a few months, she expanded into scrapbooking and quickly found that the industry did not provide products that were desperately needed to fulfill a scrapbooker’s basic needs. She and her husband, Keith, then began doing research, hiring artists, and having dies made to cut die cuts. Stamping Station (now Scrapbook Customs) provided both popular and innovative designs for the early years of the scrapbooking industry.
Scrapbook Customs Expands
With time and demand, the company expanded into paper, stickers, and laser cuts. After the economy struggle of 2001, JoLynn decided the company needed to make some changes on how their products were made and manufactured. JoLynn was able to obtain the equipment necessary so the company would be able to print their own paper and stickers. In 2004, with the help of her daughter Jillian, they began designing and manufacturing custom high school products.
Scrapbook Customs has the largest line of custom products, travel, and sports items available on the scrapbook market. If customers can’t find what they need in their current line, Scrapbook Customs can make it. They manufacture paper, stickers, laser cuts, chipboard, kits, and so much more.
Keeping It in the Family
JoLynn not only owns the company, but she also helps come up with the company’s new product concepts and future direction. She works long hours to make sure the product is the highest quality and even assembles products herself. Her husband, Keith, travels all over the US selling their products at trade shows and her daughter Jillian designs most of the products. Along with other family members and employees, they manage a great company that is large, but still has the feel of a small family business.
