We hope this helps! By: Scrapbook.com (24-Apr-20) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

1.) I want to emboss some metal blanks. Can you use ONLY VINTAJ Copper & Brass Blank Metal for embossing with the BIG SHOT? 2.) ( I know SIZZIX sells DECO EMBOSSING DIES and DECO ETCH), but.... can OTHER metals, like IMPRESS ART ALUMINUM Blanks be EMBOSSED in the BIG SHOT? 3.) When embossing the blank metals, can you use OTHER brands of EMBOSSING FOLDERS (other than SIZZIX) to transfer the pattern onto the blanks? Thanks so much!   By: User (15-Apr-20) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!

  • I am needing a machine to cut or punch letters. Which would be the better buy a Big Shot or the letter punch that is on sale for $22.99   By: maryolder (25-Aug-19) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • The Sizzix Big Shot Machine might be more expensive to start but you can expand your collection in the future with other font styles and sizes as you create more projects. A die cutting machine has so many more possibilities to make cards, boxes, party favors, and more. The letter punch will be less expensive for sure and will cut your letters nicely. The drawback is that the letter punch isn't expandable. You will only every be able to cut one font in that same style for the life of the punch. If you think you will be wanting other font styles and sizes in the future, you might consider the Big Shot machine instead of the letter punch. I hope that helps make your decision easier. Can regular card stock be used for embossing?   By: User (02-Apr-18) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Yes but be careful of thin, cheap cardstock because the embossing folder can easily cut through it. I would not recommend rolling it through the machine twice. By: Yilbit (03-Apr-18) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

  • I am looking into die cutting machine. Instead of jumping into the Cricut, like I originally intended to buy. Now, I'm thinking a Sizzix would be better for me starting out. Should I get a manual or electric? Which one cuts better. I'd be using cardstock, mostly. Thank you for your advice in advance.   By: Jane Mann (27-Jan-18) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • This Big Shot Machine is it good for cutting fabric I am a quilter and cutting with scissors is hard on my wrist, also can you purchase more die cuts like 1/2 triangles and 2" squares etc.   By: beauchampsl (05-Mar-19) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • The Big Shot Machine can be used for cutting fabric. The steel rule dies from Sizzix work beautifully on fabric. The dies that come in this bundle, however, are not going to work well to cut fabric since they are thin metal dies. They work great on paper but not on fabric. • I use the gemini full size machine with their die cuts for fabric. It is hard on the plates. It can be done. Just realize that plates will have to be replaced more often than cutting paper. • Will the Big Shot cut leather and all felt.   By: leehouse (12-Jul-17) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
This question is about a related product.
    • Some wafer thin dies may cut through thin felt. However, if you want to cut leather, chipboard or other thicker materials you will need to purchase the steel ruled dies. This machine accepts both types of dies and you will have to adjust the plates sandwich accordingly. Also, leather may be somewhat finicky because it all depends on the type of material the leather is backed up with. Some leather materials are back up with a soft fuzzy material and that would cut using a steel ruled die, some leather is backed up with a normally white material with threads going in all directions in order to provide strength to the leather and those are sometimes finicky. when it comes to the latter type of leather you are not going to know unless you get a sample and test it. • Sizzix Big Shot does an amazing emboss on any brand of embossing folder that I have ordered here in the USA. I do not always have success with folders that come free with magazines. Several of those are too thick to run thru. By: birdwatchr3 (21-Mar-18) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
