This machine works great. The timer is a great plus . I’ve only used it a short , but my cards came out beautiful. You must cut the foil close to the die. The extra foil sometimes sticks to the cardstock. The machine does take up space but it is worth it. This machine is so much better than the other machine that needs the special black paper. I give this machine 5 stars.

I just got my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil system and cannot wait to try it out. I held off buying one more piece of equipment, but finaly gave in when I found out it works in my Big Shot die cutting machine. So I didn't need to buy another cutting machine. Scrapbook.com's website is easy to navigate and their shipping is speedy.

Love this machine, I bought a TODO earlier this summer and wasn't impressed. this glimmer and the spellbinder stamps are wonderful, they work every time one pass with my cut'n'boss, I have already made some amazing cards...I love the non-skid plate, the stamps stay where you put . Can't say enough good things about this product....Scrapbook.com was so prompt in getting my order in the mail,I will order from them again for sure!! Have a great day!!

I saw the 2 videos available here before I went ahead and purchased this system because I, too, have a Vagabond plus I have Minc system. I love my Minc, but the Minc foils only work on laser printed images. Glimmer foils are heat-set. I bought this system because it is much simpler and it has lovely dies for my son's wedding. Everything works as promised and I had a great deal of fun trying each and every die. I did not use a heavy cardstock because of the warning and I can see why rolling it thru my Vagabond would be too tight and cause issues with the foil. I also trimmed the foil as closely as I could. Everything worked fine for me and my foils worked perfectly! And I was very pleased that Scrapbook.com was the only store that had this system and was selling it prior to the 10/1 release date! One caveat: Although the demonstrators casually mention that they don't know if it's hot enuff to burn you, IT IS HOT ENUFF TO BURN YOU! Use the tools and you'll be fine!

“Oh no, another tool“ is what I thought when I saw this product. Now it is one of my favorites! I have a Mink and laser jet printer, but I just rarely used it. I feel this product is more of a game changer if you like your die cut machines. I used with Big Shot and Big Shot Pro with great results right away. I did slide a piece of card stock under larger glimmer plates for even better results, but the smaller glimmer plates work perfectly! Taking my projects from wow to WOWZA! Only thing I would like is a matching cutting die for the glimmer plate images. I am over fussy cutting even with simple images. I just rather pay more for a matching die!!!

This Hot foil system is so easy to use and you get beautiful results every time. I love that you can foil a sentiment on your projects just by doing a few steps. You can even emboss using this system. Other systems only foil if it’s printed with a laser printer, which is kind of a hassle for me. But this system totally removes that step, the less steps I have to do the better. The size is perfect, I can just slide it into my Alex drawers and it’s out of the way.
Great little machine that adds a beautiful foil touch to my projects. I totally recommend it.

The product does work as far as applying the foil onto cardstock. I assumed you would be able to place your embossing plate exactly where you wanted on the paper. However...I have not been able to figure this count successfully. From what i’ve seen on demonstration videos, you must put a long strip of cardstock down, and then cut the cardstock where you want your foiled embossing. It is difficult to put your foil over the embossing plate and then put the top plate on without everything shifting. I hope there is an easy answer to this or this won’t be a product i will use often. If I figure this out, I’ll be back to give it five stars!

I really shopped around when looking at the hot foil machines. To me there is no comparison when I looked at the machines. I have been recommending your machine to everybody, to me it is the best machine out there and was well worth the money.

How does this machine differ from the GoPress hot foil machine?

I will write a review this weekend which will include pros and cons for each machine. If you own the GoPress it will work very similar. I own that machine but had trouble. Then I watched videos on both these machines and decided to purchase the Spellbinders machine. Both work very similar. If you already own one or the other and do not want to spend more money, then keep what you have. Basics of machines are on/off, heat time, and cover plate. If I did not own a machine at all and saw them work, I would go with the Spellbinders. There are more involved differences which I will post in my review soon. Hope this helps for now.

Also a product called Un-Du--I saw on a video, I think Jennifer McGuire. (I ordered it on amazon) It's apparently like Goo Gone but not as greasy or yucky residue.

As far as I can tell it’s a monetary difference. If you look at the box graphics for both the 1 and 2 they both show the new magnetic handle tool. The Glimmer 2 includes a 3rd shim/plate. Since both now have the new handle tool then the approximate $20 difference between 1 and 2 must be the extra plate. Really? Is that it? Anyone else have any ideas as to the difference between them?

Unfortunately the reactive transfer foils used with the MINC do not work with this machine. I've had success using the heat foils from Spellbinders, Crafter's Companion, and We R.
I like some of these dies. Can I order the die and use it in my Big Shot? No foil, just use it as a regular die?

These are not dies per se. They are metal stamps. You can use these to emboss or ink up and stamp (running through the die cutting machine) but they will not cut. Only leave an impression. I have a video on my youtube channel showing this in detail. https://www.youtube.com/c/eastwickspaperandink

I'm looking for the DIMENSIONS of the foiling deck of this machine. How large is the actual heating area? What is the largest size piece of stock that can be used? I'm just curious. Thank you in advance.

Base/dock: 10 3/8" long (with heating platform in, add about 1 1/2"), about 1 1/2" high without platform in.
Can you use this without dies, in other words can I use this by putting an already die cut piece down and then adding foil?

This needs to be used with the Glimmer plates as the pressure from the die cut machine along with the heat will use the plates to make the design on your paper. We hope this helps.
